We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Works Manager to join our team on a significant Network Rail, Wixams project. With site mobilisation and construction activities approaching, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the successful planning and delivery of a major infrastructure scheme.
As Works Manager, you will lead the mobilisation and enabling works phase of the project, building, and managing a high-performing delivery team to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and in line with project objectives. You will oversee both direct labour and supply chain partners, driving operational excellence while ensuring compliance with company procedures, industry standards, and client requirements.

Role Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, mobilisation, and delivery of enabling and construction works across the project.
- Oversee direct labour and supply chain partners, ensuring works are delivered to programme, budget, and quality requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and industry standards throughout all project activities.
- Manage site operations, resources, and logistics to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) performance.
- Support the planning and implementation of workforce engagement and safety initiatives, including protecting people programmes and project mobilisation activities.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders to identify and mitigate delivery risks and challenges.
- Monitor progress against key milestones and implement corrective actions where required.
- Drive a positive safety culture and ensure all works are conducted safely and responsibly.
Skills, Experience And Qualifications
- Experience in a Works Manager, Construction Manager or similar operational leadership role.
- Experience planning, mobilising, and delivering large-scale infrastructure or construction projects.
- Knowledge of rail industry standards, procedures, and working practices.
- Experience managing direct labour, subcontractors, and supply chain partners.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements within construction environments.
- Experience leading site teams and coordinating complex project activities.
- Knowledge of company management systems, procedures, and project delivery processes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to make decisions, solve problems and drive project performance in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing resources, programmes, and operational delivery to achieve project objectives.
- Experience working within a rail infrastructure environment.
- Knowledge of Network Rail standards, processes, and requirements.
- Experience delivering major rail or transport infrastructure projects.
- Relevant vocational, construction or operational management qualifications.
- Experience supporting project mobilisation, enabling works and construction delivery phases.
