Licensed sponsor Edinburgh Contract Posted 1 day ago

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Psychosexual Therapist positions, with various contracts, have become available at Chalmers Sexual Health Centre, Edinburgh. This includes a permanent 15 hour per week position (0.4 WTE) working from Chalmers.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced psychosexual therapist(s) to work with our psychosexual service within Lothian Sexual and Reproductive Health Service (LSRHS). The fully integrated service is composed of Chalmers Centre and 10 local clinics, which includes a psychosexual therapy service. LSRHS provides Tier 4 and 5 specialist sexual health services working across 4 Community Health and Social Care Partnerships meeting the needs of 80,000 patient attendances per annum.

The post holder(s) would deliver direct patient care through face to face and virtual consultations. They would be expected to participate in the care of people requiring a variety of sexual health issues in a non-judgemental and empathetic manner.

Psychosexual Therapy qualification from a COSRT accredited course or a healthcare qualification with experience working with sexual dysfunctions, plus a psychotherapy qualification. We would also consider candidates who are working towards an appropriate qualification.

Experience of delivering time-limited psychological therapy interventions in their clinical practice would be advantageous.

The role may include time limited interventions to other patients attending LSRHS as required and agreed with the team lead and wider LSRSH team including termination of pregnancy service.

Evidence of a non-judgemental person centred approach, ability to use initiative and work independently, effective communication skills, highly developed clinical consultation skills, flexibility and willingness to work across all areas of the LSRHS, and to deliver care in a range of different ways (e.g. via telephone or video consultations) and the ability to manage and prioritise own workload.

Working patterns are negotiable between Monday to Friday.

Informal queries should be directed to Caroline Wilson, Psychosexual Clinical Team Lead , caroline.wilson@nhs.scot.

AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application—but your answers must be your own.

  • Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.
  • Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.
  • Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.

Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you—not an AI tool.
