Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Accountant role based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom. The Accountant will manage day-to-day financial operations, including posting transactions, maintaining ledgers, and reconciling accounts. Responsibilities include preparing monthly and annual financial statements, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and monitoring cash flow for multiple store locations.

The role will also involve processing invoices, managing accounts payable and receivable, supporting payroll accuracy checks, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and local regulations. The Accountant will collaborate with store managers and senior leadership to provide financial reports, support decision-making, and contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in financial accounting, including ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Proficiency with accounting software(Sage 50) and spreadsheets, with the ability to analyze data and produce clear reports.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management in a retail or multi-site environment.
  • Understanding of local tax, compliance, and basic payroll principles relevant to the United Kingdom.
  • Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with store and head office teams.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and handle sensitive financial information confidentially.
  • Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA part-qualified, or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in retail or FMCG accounting is beneficial but not mandatory.
