About the Role

We are seeking an AI and Data Verification Engineer to lead the independent verification of machine learning, data and supporting software within our medical robotic platform.

In this role, you will define and implement verification approaches for machine learning performance, datasets, data processing pipelines and supporting software. You will independently assess candidate models against defined requirements and acceptance criteria, verify the integrity and traceability of data used for evaluation, and ensure that model performance is supported by appropriate and reproducible evidence.

You will work closely with AI, software and systems engineers while maintaining appropriate independence between model development and verification. This is a technical role combining machine learning evaluation, data analysis, statistical methods and software test automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Define verification protocols and test approaches based on software requirements and identified risks

• Design and implement independent verification for machine learning models, datasets, data acquisition and supporting software

• Manage independent test datasets and verify dataset integrity, provenance, traceability and separation between training, validation and test data

• Independently assess model performance against defined requirements, including comparison with ground truth and previously released models

• Verify annotation quality and consistency, including agreement between independent annotators

• Develop Python based automated tests, test utilities and test harnesses, using BDD and other appropriate verification methods

• Verify data acquisition and processing, including data integrity, completeness, provenance, traceability, metadata, timestamping and synchronisation.

• Produce reproducible verification evidence and reports to support software and model release

Who We’re Looking For

• Experience in verification or testing of machine learning, computer vision or data driven software systems

• Strong Python skills, including test automation and data analysis

• Good understanding of machine learning evaluation, including datasets, ground truth, model performance metrics and relevant statistical methods

• Solid understanding of how ML models fail, how deployment changes their behaviour, and how to measure performance with statistical confidence on truly independent data

• Experience working with complex datasets, including data quality, traceability and integrity

• Experience designing verification strategies and test methods from requirements

• Comfortable working within Linux based development and test environments

• Methodical and technically curious, with the ability to investigate complex problems and work independently

• Comfortable collaborating with AI, software, systems and test engineers in a fast paced startup environment

• Eligibility to work on site at our central London office

Experience We Value

• Experience with computer vision or medical image analysis

• Experience with ML pipelines, model lifecycle tooling, dataset versioning and reproducibility

• Experience testing software in regulated or safety critical environments

• Experience with medical device software and familiarity with standards such as IEC 62304 and ISO 13485
