Animator/Motion Designer

Strategic Agenda is looking for a talented Animator & Motion Designer to join our creative team.

We work with UN agencies, NGOs, foundations and other organisations tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges. Our work spans film, animation, design, campaigns and digital content, often across multiple countries and languages.

We’re looking for someone who can do more than simply animate.

You’ll need to be highly proficient in Adobe After Effects, confident with video editing, and have practical 3D skills in Blender or Cinema 4D. Just as importantly, you’ll need either a design background or a very strong design sensibility.

You should understand typography, composition, colour, hierarchy and visual storytelling, and be able to take a concept, storyboard or set of style frames and turn it into something beautifully crafted and engaging.

What you’ll be doing

• Creating 2D and 3D animation and motion graphics for films, explainers, social content and campaigns.
• Animating typography, illustrations, icons, infographics and visual identities.
• Working primarily in Adobe After Effects, alongside Blender or Cinema 4D where appropriate.
• Developing animation from storyboards, style frames and existing design systems.
• Creating and integrating 3D elements into motion design and film projects.
• Contributing ideas to visual concepts and creative treatments.
• Editing video in DaVinci Resolve and/or Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Combining live-action footage, animation, 3D, graphics, sound and subtitles into finished films.
• Adapting content for different platforms, formats and aspect ratios.
• Working closely with designers, filmmakers, producers and project managers.
• Taking projects from initial creative development through to final delivery.

What we’re looking for

• Strong Adobe After Effects skills.
• Practical, professional-level skills in Blender or Cinema 4D.
• A strong design background or demonstrably excellent design sense.
• A very good understanding of typography, layout, composition, colour and visual hierarchy.
• Strong motion graphics and animation skills.
• Good working knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Competence in DaVinci Resolve and/or Premiere Pro.
• The ability to work confidently across both 2D and 3D workflows.
• Good visual storytelling instincts.
• Strong attention to detail.
• The ability to take creative direction while also bringing your own ideas.
• Someone collaborative, curious and keen to develop.

Additional skills we’d value

• 3D modelling, lighting, texturing and rendering.
• Character animation or rigging.
• Compositing animation and 3D elements with live-action footage.
• Colour grading in DaVinci Resolve.
• Basic sound design or audio editing.
• Experience working in an agency, production company or design studio.
• Experience creating content for international or multilingual audiences.

Who this would suit

This role would suit a strong junior or midweight animator / motion designer, probably with around 1–5 years’ professional experience, although we care much more about the quality of your work than the number of years on your CV.

We’re particularly interested in people who understand that good motion design starts with good design.

You might come from a graphic design, motion design, animation or filmmaking background. What matters is that you have strong visual judgement, solid 2D and 3D skills, and can make thoughtful creative decisions rather than simply execute instructions.

A strong showreel and portfolio are essential.
