The role

As Automotive Product Security Lead at Wayve, you will define, mature, and operate the product security framework for Wayve’s automotive software activities, spanning our R&D fleet, robotaxi programme, and software supplied to OEM customers. You will help ensure Wayve develops and delivers software that meets cybersecurity expectations from customers, regulators, and internal governance.

You will establish what good automotive product security looks like at Wayve, translating regulations, standards, customer requirements, and risk assessments into practical processes, requirements, and guidance for product and engineering teams.

This role sits within Security and partners closely with product, engineering, safety, and customer-facing teams. You will set standards, provide guidance and assurance, and review evidence and cybersecurity work products. Delivery teams remain responsible for implementing controls, producing evidence, maintaining cybersecurity cases, and owning residual risk.

This is a senior individual contributor role with broad influence across the business. You will help scale repeatable processes, templates, metrics, and assurance mechanisms that enable Wayve to move quickly while maintaining the rigour expected for automotive software.

Key responsibilities

Automotive Product Security Framework

  • Define and maintain Wayve’s automotive product security framework, aligned to ISO 21434, ASPICE for Cybersecurity, and customer expectations.
  • Establish practical processes, templates, guidance, and minimum control requirements across R&D fleet, robotaxi, and customer software programmes.

Programme Guidance & Assurance

  • Act as the product security lead across automotive software activities, helping teams understand required security activities and expected evidence.
  • Coordinate with security, product, engineering, safety, and customer-facing teams to identify dependencies, risks, and assurance needs.
  • Review cybersecurity work products, traceability, residual risk assessments, and cybersecurity cases to ensure quality and completeness.

Product Security Risk Governance

  • Establish mechanisms for cybersecurity risk visibility, escalation, and decision-making across programmes.
  • Partner with risk owners to ensure risks are documented, remediation is tracked, and acceptance decisions are made by accountable stakeholders.
  • Challenge and escalate where risk, evidence, or delivery gaps are not being addressed appropriately.

Regulatory, Customer & OEM Readiness

  • Translate regulatory, standards, and customer requirements into practical internal expectations and assurance activities.
  • Support external audits, customer assessments, and OEM reviews requiring cybersecurity evidence.
  • Represent Wayve in product security discussions with customers, partners, and assessors.

Secure Development Enablement

  • Advise and upskill teams on automotive cybersecurity practices including TARA, cybersecurity requirements, secure architecture, verification, validation, and security testing.
  • Build reusable guidance and playbooks that integrate security into development processes with minimal overhead.

Metrics & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop metrics covering product security maturity, assurance readiness, evidence quality, and risk treatment.
  • Provide reporting and recommendations to senior stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
