Grace Garden School is a nurturing and inspiring environment for young people aged 7 to 16 with significant levels of special education, health, and care needs which are associated with Autism, SEMH, particularly high-anxiety, and can present challenging behaviours and lack of engagement.

Through the Ruskin Mill Trust's unique Practical Skills Therapeutic Education approach, students learn and achieve through meaningful activities involving the land, animals and crafts.

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver an innovative curriculum that supports students to build confidence, resilience, independence and essential life skills alongside academic achievement.

You will create meaningful and engaging learning experiences, using your understanding of different learning styles to combine the Steiner Waldorf approach with National Curriculum outcomes, helping each pupil to achieve their full potential.

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring students engage in learning and make progress through the delivery of practical, experiential and therapeutic education.

Working with a class of students with a range of educational needs and abilities, you will carefully plan and deliver learning activities that inspire participation and achievement.

You will lead cross-curricular teaching, helping students develop literacy, numeracy, social skills and Core Learning Skills through meaningful practical experiences. You will assess and monitor progress in line with the school's curriculum and assessment framework while creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Our successful applicant will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience of teaching within a Special Educational Needs (SEN) environment
• Experience of the National Curriculum framework of assessment
• Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills
• A practical and creative approach to engaging students in learning
• A passion for supporting young people with additional needs to achieve their potential
• Experience of the Steiner Waldorf Curriculum is desirable
