About our Directorate and division
The Data and Analytics Transformation Directorate (DAT) is leading the transformation of the Bank's use of data and analytics in light of the revolutionary opportunities brought about by technological progress. The directorate is responsible for the delivery of the Bank's Data & Analytics (D&A) Strategy, including moving the Bank's data and running its analytical processes on the cloud, strengthening how we acquire and share data externally, rolling out artificial intelligence tools, and delivering a data and AI literacy agenda for all roles. Ensuring that we manage the Bank's data assets effectively is vital to ensuring this work progresses effectively
Data Strategy Implementation Division (DSID)
DSID sits at the heart of DAT, responsible for providing a wide range of data and analytical products and services and taking the lead on ensuring the Bank's use of data is well-governed. Almost everything the Bank does depends on the effective use of data and analytics. In large part this is defined and delivered by DSID. It directly enables colleagues to use data at all points of the data cycle, by providing many of the central D&A tools, platforms, services, training and specialist support.
DSID is home to many different skillsets, including data scientists, data governance experts, communications professionals, skills and training leads, and delivery managers. The importance of the role, the range of roles and the diverse background of DSID's staff make it an exceptionally stimulating and exciting place to work.
The Team
You will be part of the Communications team within the Skills and Culture Hub. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering communications and engagement activities that support the Bank's Data and Analytics Transformation agenda. The team provides communications support across various teams and divisions in the Data and Analytics Transformation (DAT) Directorate, and for the Bank's Data Sub-Portfolio and data transformation programmes within it.
Role responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of communication and engagement activities for programmes and strategic initiatives across the Data Sub-Portfolio.
- Partner with programme teams and stakeholders to understand their objectives and develop targeted communications and engagement approaches.
- Create compelling communications content across a range of channels, including intranet articles, presentations, newsletters, videos, campaigns and events.
- Lead the development and implementation of communication and engagement plans, identifying innovative ways to reach and engage audiences.
- Design and implement measures to evaluate the effectiveness of communications activity and use insights to continuously improve future approaches.
- Provide communications expertise, advice and coaching to colleagues and stakeholders to build capabilities and ensure standards and best practice are adopted.
- Line management of up to two members of the team, supporting their development, wellbeing and performance.
Minimum criteria
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging messages and communicate effectively in written, verbal and visual formats.
- Experience leading the development and delivery of communication and engagement plans and activities for internal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, exercise judgement and deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment.
Essential criteria
- Ability to understand stakeholder and business needs and translate them into effective, audience focused communication and engagement approaches.
- Ability to identify connections across activities, stakeholders and priorities to support strategic, joined-up delivery and maximise impact.
- Experience providing communications advice and guidance and building effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience of line management, coaching or equivalent leadership responsibilities, including supporting the development and performance of colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively across business areas to ensure our communications are aligned and impactful.
Desirable criteria
- Experience supporting change, transformation or programme communications.
- Knowledge of data, technology, transformation or change-related communications.
This is a people management role. You will be responsible for day to day management of the team and for defining roles and responsibilities. You will develop your team through sharing information effectively, coaching and communicating a clear vision to ensure that your staff are productive, engaged and motivated to deliver the area's aims. This will include setting clear goals and smart stretching objectives that are aligned to those of the team, division and directorate. You will also be responsible for managing all staff-related matters that may arise including performance, absence and sickness.

Salary and Benefits Information
We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.
This role offers a salary of £50,320 to £56,610. In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:
- Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/65th) or decrease (to 1/105th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year. The Bank has the discretion to vary standard accrual rates and dial up and dial down rates at any time and to withdraw dial up and dial down options at any time.
- A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
- An 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
- 26 days' annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.
- Private medical insurance and income protection.
