Community Safety Patrol Officer
Are you a great problem solver who thrives working outdoors and wants to help residents feel safer? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Community Safety Patrol Officer (CSPO).
This is your chance to play a key role in making Basingstoke and Deane a safer, cleaner, and more welcoming place to live and work.
What You Will Do
As a CSPO, you’ll help reduce antisocial behaviour and environmental crime by:
A clear DBS check and Level 2 Non-Police Personnel Vetting must be achieved before the successful candidate begins employment. This means that you must have been resident in the UK for at least the last 3 years. For information on vetting standards visit: Vetting authorised professional practice
The candidate will be required to meet Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) standards.

- Carrying out high-visibility patrols across the borough to reassure the public
- Engaging with residents, businesses, and local organisations to build community confidence
- Challenging and addressing unacceptable behaviour in a firm but fair manner
- Supporting and working alongside the police and other partners to tackle local issues
- Acting as an ambassador for the council and police
- Is confident, approachable, and comfortable engaging with people from all walks of life
- Can think on their feet and use initiative to solve problems in dynamic situations
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Is resilient and able to remain calm and professional in challenging circumstances
