About The Role
We’re looking for a Data and Systems Manager to build, develop and own the data infrastructure, reporting and systems that power Sisters & Seekers as we continue to grow.
This role is all about accuracy, automation, scalability and turning data into better business decisions.
You’ll champion data-led decision making, streamline manual processes through automation, and identify opportunities to use AI and technology to work smarter.
Key Responsibilities
Data and Reporting
- Build a full data and reporting suite from scratch, covering trading, marketing, product, stock, operations, customer and finance.
- Own one version of the truth: agree and document KPI definitions, data sources and calculation rules, and make sure every report uses them.
- Lead the Power BI implementation, including design, build, rollout, access controls and user training.
- Replace manual exports and spreadsheet reporting with automated, scheduled reporting.
- Put data quality checks and reconciliations in place so reported numbers tie back to source systems and the ledger.
Data warehouse and Architecture
- Design and build the business's data warehouse and the pipelines that feed it from Shopify, Peoplevox, Xero, Swap, paid media platforms and other sources.
- Move data feeds from manual CSV uploads to API-based automation.
- Set up data structures, naming and product, customer and channel hierarchies so they scale as the business adds channels and markets.
- Ensure all business data is secure, including access controls, user permissions, system credentials and backups.
- Own data governance, documentation, access rights and GDPR compliance for business data.
Systems Implementation
- Lead all system implementations across the business, from requirements gathering and supplier selection through to build, testing, go-live and adoption.
- Work with each department to understand their needs and make sure new systems meet them.
- Make sure every new system integrates with the data warehouse and does not create a new data silo.
- Maintain a systems map and roadmap, including contract renewal dates and costs.
- Manage relationships with system suppliers and implementation partners.
Business Partnering
- Business partner every department so they have the data they need, on time and accurate.
- Translate business questions into reporting and analysis, and help teams use the outputs to make decisions.
- Champion data-led decision making across the business, including training and self-serve reporting.
AI Development
- Lead AI development in the business when required, identifying where AI can automate work or improve decisions.
- Make sure AI tools use governed, accurate data and meet data protection requirements.
Team Development
- Manage, develop and set objectives for the team.
- Document all definitions, pipelines and processes.
- Train the team, so knowledge is not held by one person.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- At least 5 years in data, BI or business systems roles, including building a reporting function or data warehouse from the ground up.
- Experience in an ecommerce or DTC business.
- Advanced Power BI, including data modelling, DAX and Power Query, and managing a Power BI service rollout.
- Strong SQL and experience designing data warehouses on a cloud platform such as Azure, Snowflake or BigQuery.
- Experience building data pipelines and API integrations between business systems.
- Track record of leading system implementations end to end, including requirements, supplier selection, testing and go-live.
- Experience working with and presenting to senior, non-technical stakeholders.
- Good commercial understanding of how data drives trading decisions.
Desirable
- Working knowledge of Shopify, Peoplevox or similar WMS, Xero, and paid media platforms.
- Python for data work and automation.
- Experience using AI tools to automate reporting or analysis.
- Experience managing an analyst.
- Microsoft certification in Power BI or Azure data engineering.
Personal Attributes
- Someone who is comfortable starting with a blank page and little existing infrastructure.
- Willing to do the build work as well as set the direction.
- Accurate and disciplined about definitions, documentation and data quality.
- Clear communicator who can explain data and systems to non-technical colleagues.
- Able to manage competing requests from several departments and prioritise against business impact.
