We are looking for a skilled and motivated Fabricator to join our Engineering team at McIntosh Donald. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fabricator who enjoys a varied role involving fabrication, welding, maintenance support and continuous improvement projects within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Working Pattern: Tuesday - Saturday

Role Purpose

To maintain continuous production and improve efficiencies safely through effectively implementing maintenance repairs and responding in a timely manner to breakdown repairs. Ensure continuous improvement methodologies are applied that improves the operational function.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out fabrication, welding, repair and maintenance work safely and efficiently
  • Complete metal cutting, grinding, drilling, tapping, forming and bending activities
  • Manufacture and modify components to support production and engineering requirements
  • To ensure all requested repairs & improvement projects are completed and reported back to your assigned supervisory engineer.
  • To assist the Engineering department in achieving its budget targets through the efficient use of materials and replacement parts
  • To follow the correct accounting/authorisation process when ordering replacement parts.
  • Maintain and improve standards of hygiene and housekeeping in all areas of the factory including the Engineering Fabrication workshop & associated workshops / areas
  • Ensure all Hot Work Permits and Risk assessments are in place and closed off after work has been completed
  • Ensure steel stores / consumables are kept stocked and replenished as required
  • Assist with routine PPM when assigned (specific training will be provided) and take part in reactive work as part of the wider engineering team.
  • To be aware of and adhere to all Company policies and procedures

  • Time served apprenticeship
  • Good trouble shooting and fault resolution experience

  • FMCG experience (desirable)
  • Coded welding Qualifications (desirable)
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills essential
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Capable of making sound business suggestions
  • Ability to work effectively and confidently under pressure
  • Commitment to good practice and quality products
  • Communicate well in written and oral form with multi-nationals on all levels
