What You'll Do
- Support the Head of Financial Control in managing Retail Finance risks, maintaining governance standards and ensuring transparent financial stewardship.
- Oversee the Retail Finance control environment, ensuring compliance with Finance Group standards and driving improvements to processes and controls.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual balance sheet assessments to ensure the accuracy, completeness and transparency of Retail's financial position.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date risk and control documentation, model and end-user computing records, and financial records.
- Produce clear management information on financial reporting and risk indicators, collaborating with Retail and Group colleagues to support informed decision-making.
- Provide expert guidance on accounting processes, reconciliations and control requirements, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and effectively.
- Lead the team in line with Company policies and the Partnership Agreement, while complying with Consumer Duty governance procedures and approved committee mandates.
What You Bring
- Fully Qualified Accountant (CA/ACCA)
- Proven experience in finance control or financial control roles.
- Relevant experience within the insurance industry.
- Knowledge of insurance accounting, actuarial processes and regulatory reporting requirements, including IFRS, Solvency II and SAO.
- Strong understanding of financial control frameworks, governance models and risk management practices.
- Proven ability to identify risks and challenges, critically analyse problems and work with stakeholders to implement pragmatic process and control improvements.
- Strong leadership and relationship-building skills, with experience of providing constructive challenge, mentoring junior colleagues, adapting to change and promoting continuous improvement.
