This role requires 3 days per week in the office and can be based in Munich, Berlin, Dublin or London.

Personio is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Legal Counsel (Privacy) focused at the cross-section of privacy and emerging AI legal issues.

This role will report into the Head of Legal (Product & Privacy). In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for implementing and monitoring data protection policies and ensuring the organization's adherence to privacy and AI laws, through the provision of expert guidance to internal teams - in particular bridging the gap between legal expertise and technical expertise.

Role Responsibilities: What you'll do

  • You will shape the legal standards underpinning Personio's privacy framework, providing legal risk assessment and recommendations as it evolves to scale in line with company growth.
  • You will act as the translator between legal reasoning and technical design, providing privacy legal support on highly technical AI product development and internal AI tool use, and embedding 'privacy by design' principles into our AI and engineering practice.
  • You will empower the organization through training and expert guidance, answering privacy-related queries and advising internal stakeholders and customers on an ongoing basis.
  • You will support cross-functional, company-wide privacy projects, partnering across teams to embed privacy considerations into broader business initiatives.
  • You will keep Personio at the forefront of privacy standards by researching and integrating emerging best practices and regulatory developments into our compliance posture.

Role Requirements: What you need to succeed

  • Tech Focused Legal Expertise: You're a qualified lawyer with 7+ years of experience at a law firm or in-house at a tech company, specializing in privacy & AI laws.
  • Technical Curiosity: You bring strong technical curiosity or background—engineering experience or a genuine passion for technology and AI is highly valued and will help you thrive in this role.
  • Complex Legal Analysis: You quickly analyze complex legal issues, evaluate key risks, prioritize effectively, and make clear recommendations with a customer-first mindset.
  • Project Management in Fast-Paced Environments: You excel at managing multiple workstreams simultaneously in dynamic, fast-paced settings while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
  • Process Automation & Innovation: You proactively identify and execute opportunities to automate legal processes, driving efficiency and scalability across the team.
  • Language: You are fluent in English, German language is a plus.

At Personio, we value in-person collaboration while also offering flexibility. This role is office-based, with 3 days per week required in your contracted office location. The remaining days can be worked from home or in the office if you prefer. In addition, you’ll have 20 Flex Days per year to work remotely from other locations.
