First Team Doctor
Stoke City Football Club of the English Football League are looking for a dedicated and experienced First Team Doctor to support our medical operations at our Training Ground Facility at Clayton Wood in Trent Vale.
Reporting to the Head of Medical and Performance and the Head of Medicine, the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in assisting with the delivery of elite sports medicine services for the First Team squad, ensuring our players receive world class care to support their performance, health and wellbeing on and off the pitch.
This position is offered on a full time permanent basis. Due to the dynamic nature of elite professional sport, the ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility to work matchdays, evenings and weekends as required.
Main Responsibilities
- Delivering elite medical care to all First Team players and supporting their overall health and wellbeing.
- Assisting with the accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of acute and chronic injuries.
- Ensuring the safe provision of compliant medical services in accordance with best practice and current General Medical Council (GMC) requirements.
- Arranging specialist referrals and appropriate medical investigations when required.
- Providing emergency match day medical cover for players during First Team home and away fixtures.
- Assisting with pre signing medical screenings for new players and conducting continual appropriate health screenings for signed players.
- Maintaining accurate, professional and compliant medical records in accordance with GMC and GDPR standards.
- Checking and replenishing equipment bags, medicines and sutures regularly to ensure strict compliance with mandatory medical lists and expiry dates.
- Undertaking Continued Professional Development (CPD) and maintaining compliance with GMC requirements concerning annual appraisals, scope of practice and revalidation.
Key Skills and Experience
- Current Full Registration and Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Possess ATMMiF Level 5 Certificate or equivalent.
- Experience working within an elite sporting environment.
- Member or Fellow of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (MFSEM/FFSEM) is desirable.
- Diploma in Musculoskeletal medicine or Sports and Exercise Medicine is desirable.
- Postgraduate training or qualification in MSK ultrasound is desirable.
