Every day, thousands of passengers and freight customers rely on our vessels to keep people, places and businesses connected. Could you be the person helping to ensure those vessels continue to operate safely, efficiently and at their best?

As Fleet Superintendent, you'll play a vital role behind the scenes, ensuring our ships operate safely, efficiently, and in line with the highest operational standards.

It's a role that offers challenge, variety, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across our Irish Sea fleet. If you're looking for a career where no two days are the same and where your expertise helps keep Europe moving, this could be your opportunity to experience a life less ordinary.

Some Of Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the operational and technical performance of assigned vessels across the fleet.
  • Oversee vessel budgets, including operational expenditure, dry dockings and investment projects.
  • Review and approve maintenance, repair, refit and spare parts requirements in line with company procedures.
  • Monitor vessel performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability and compliance.
  • Conduct vessel inspections, audits and ship visits to ensure compliance with Stena Line's Safety Management System and statutory requirements.
  • Lead or support technical, incident and accident investigations, implementing corrective and preventative actions where required.
  • Act as a key link between ship and shore, providing support and guidance to Masters and Senior Chief Engineers.
  • Liaise with Flag States, Classification Societies, P&I Clubs and other external stakeholders.
  • Support crew development through appraisals, succession planning and sharing best practice across the fleet.
  • Contribute to operational projects, vessel introductions and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Will Experience

As part of our Fleet Operations team, you'll work alongside experienced maritime professionals who are passionate about delivering safe, reliable and efficient operations.

This is a highly varied role that combines technical expertise, leadership, operational support and stakeholder management. One day you may be supporting a vessel through a technical challenge, the next planning a dry docking project, conducting a vessel inspection or working with senior officers to improve performance across the fleet.

At Stena Line, our culture is built around being welcoming, caring and reliable. We encourage collaboration, continuous learning and knowledge sharing, giving you the opportunity to make a real impact while developing your own career within an international business.

Benefits

As a Stena Line employee, you'll enjoy a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Concessionary travel on Irish Sea and North Sea routes
  • 75% discount on UK rail travel
  • Company pension and life assurance
  • Gym and wellbeing discounts
  • Wellbeing cash plan
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Private Healthcare (UK only)

Who You Are

At Stena Line your personality matters as much as how good you are at what you do. Regardless of your role, our behaviours welcoming, caring and reliable guide you in your everyday work and the challenges you face.

We're looking for a confident and collaborative maritime professional who enjoys taking ownership and solving complex challenges. You build strong relationships with people at all levels, communicate effectively and remain calm when priorities change. You have a continuous improvement mindset, enjoy sharing knowledge and are motivated by finding practical solutions that support safe and efficient operations. Most importantly, you're someone who takes pride in delivering high standards while working as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • Master Mariner, Marine Engineer or equivalent maritime qualification.
  • Leadership experience within a maritime environment.
  • Strong understanding of maritime legislation, statutory compliance and Safety Management Systems.
  • Experience supporting vessel operations, technical management or fleet performance.
