Head of Technology

PE-backed Professional Services Group

Salary circa £110,000 - £120,000 + Bonus

Hybrid Working

Stanton House is partnering with a growing, private equity-backed professional services group to appoint a hands-on Head of Technology.

The business is bringing together specialist consultancy firms through acquisition. It needs a technology leader who can establish common systems and standards, deliver its data strategy and build the foundations to support continued growth.

Working closely with the CFO, business leaders and the investor’s central technology team, you will own day-to-day IT alongside a five-year technology transformation roadmap. You will deliver through a lean operating model, making effective use of managed service providers, software vendors and specialist partners while remaining personally involved in implementation.

The opportunity

Acquired businesses bring different technology environments, data, processes and ways of working. Your role will be to turn these into a scalable platform that improves operational visibility, consultant productivity and client delivery.

You will determine where standardisation creates value and where specialist capabilities should be retained. This requires commercial judgement, practical delivery skills and the ability to bring acquired business leaders and professional teams through change.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the technology roadmap: Develop and deliver a five-year plan with clear priorities, investment requirements, dependencies and measurable business outcomes.
  • Deliver through a lean team: Establish a proportionate technology operating model, combining internal ownership with external expertise. Hold providers accountable for service quality, cost and delivery.
  • Drive standardisation: Establish common technology standards and lead business systems implementation and integration across the group.
  • Deliver the data strategy: Improve data ownership, quality and consistency, creating reliable reporting and the foundations for automation and responsible AI adoption.
  • Support acquisition due diligence: Assess technology estates, cyber risks, supplier arrangements and integration requirements, identifying costs and investment needs before completion.
  • Lead acquisition integration: Create repeatable Day 1 and 100-day plans, integrating systems and data while minimising disruption to client work.
  • Maintain strong IT foundations: Oversee infrastructure, service delivery, cyber security and business continuity as the platform scales.
  • Build business engagement: Work directly with Finance, Operations and consultancy teams to understand requirements, improve workflows and drive adoption.

About you

You will be a commercially minded technology leader with experience delivering transformation in professional services, consulting or a comparable people-led business.

We are looking for someone who brings:

  • A track record of shaping technology roadmaps and personally delivering the resulting change.
  • Experience achieving results through lean teams, managed service providers and third-party partners.
  • Experience standardising and integrating business systems across multiple businesses or locations.
  • The ability to translate a data strategy into practical improvements in reporting, operational visibility and decision-making.
  • Exposure to acquisition due diligence and technology integration.
  • Strong stakeholder skills, with the credibility to influence senior leaders and specialist professionals.
  • A pragmatic approach to building capability in a growing business, balancing immediate operational needs with longer-term investment.

Experience within a PE-backed, acquisitive or founder-led organisation would be advantageous. Direct experience in the group’s specialist consultancy sector is welcome but is not essential.

What the role offers

This is an opportunity to take significant ownership of technology across a growing platform, with direct exposure to acquisition integration and value creation. You will work closely with the investor’s technology leadership and have the potential to progress into a CTO role as the business scales towards exit.
