Health and Safety Advisor
About the role:
Help create safer workplaces across our communities
At Lincolnshire Co-op, health and safety is about more than policies and procedures. It’s about creating environments where colleagues, customers and visitors can feel safe, supported and confident.
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you’ll provide practical advice, support and assurance across our different trading areas, helping the Society meet its legal obligations while continuing to improve health, safety, welfare and environmental standards.
Because great health and safety isn’t just about compliance.
It’s about helping people understand what good looks like — and making it part of everyday working life.
Where practical advice makes a difference
From investigating incidents and near misses to carrying out audits and supporting risk assessments, you’ll help identify risks and find practical ways to improve safety across the Society.
You’ll work closely with colleagues, managers and external stakeholders, providing guidance, investigating issues and supporting teams to put effective controls in place.
Because sometimes, the right advice at the right time can prevent a bigger issue further down the line.
Where compliance meets continuous improvement
You’ll use data, investigation findings and feedback to identify opportunities for improvement, helping us strengthen our approach to health and safety across our sites and teams.
One day, you might be carrying out an audit or investigating an incident.
The next, you could be supporting a training session, reviewing a risk assessment or helping colleagues understand a change in legislation.
You’ll focus on
- Providing clear, practical health and safety advice, supporting colleagues to understand their responsibilities and manage risks effectively
- Investigating incidents, near misses and environmental occurrences, using findings and data to identify improvements
- Carrying out audits and reviews, supporting risk assessments, policies and procedures, and ensuring actions are followed through
- Keeping up to date with legislation and compliance requirements, while supporting training and sharing practical guidance and best practice
- Building positive relationships across the Society and with external stakeholders, encouraging colleagues to report concerns, share ideas and take ownership of local safety
