About This Opportunity

We are looking for two homeless accommodation officers to join our Homeless Accommodation Service, with a particular focus on supporting the Council’s dispersed emergency temporary accommodation across West Cumberland.

These roles will help ensure that households placed in temporary accommodation receive a safe, responsive and high-quality service while we support them to move on into more settled accommodation.

Working across a portfolio of dispersed temporary accommodation, you will:

  • Provide housing-related support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, helping them sustain their temporary accommodation and progress towards suitable longer-term housing
  • Undertake regular welfare, support and accommodation visits, identifying needs, risks and any issues requiring further intervention
  • Complete assessments and support planning focused on rehousing, health and wellbeing, and work closely with Housing Options / Homelessness and DASA colleagues and other internal and external partners
  • Monitor accommodation standards, identify and report repairs, complete relevant health and safety checks and help ensure properties remain safe and suitable
  • Support the effective management of temporary accommodation, including assisting with placements, move-ins, move-ons and preparing accommodation for re-let
  • Respond appropriately to incidents, emergencies and concerns affecting residents or accommodation provision

The posts will be primarily focused on dispersed emergency temporary accommodation across West Cumberland and will not routinely form part of the 24-hour rota operated within our Carlisle-based accommodation schemes. However, as part of the wider service. Postholders may occasionally be required to provide cover within the Carlisle schemes, including evenings, weekends or overnight shifts where operationally necessary.

This is a varied role where you will work independently across different locations while also being part of a wider team committed to improving outcomes for people experiencing homelessness.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re also looking for individuals who embody our organisation's core values: ambitious, collaborative, compassionate, empowering, and innovative. We believe in the power of these values to drive positive change, deliver excellent public services and shape a better future for our communities.
