The Role

Aluna Partners is looking for an experienced and commercially minded HR Manager to take ownership of our UK HR function and play a pivotal role in shaping our people strategy as the business continues to grow. This is a high-impact, autonomous role for an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being both a strategic partner to the business and a hands-on leader across the full employee lifecycle.

As the HR Manager, you will have end-to-end responsibility for the UK people function, from talent acquisition, onboarding and employee engagement through to performance management, employee relations, development, and offboarding. You will work closely with senior leadership and managers across the business, providing trusted HR guidance and helping build a high-performing, engaged and values-led culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the UK HR function end-to-end, acting as the primary HR lead and trusted adviser to the business.
  • Partner closely with senior leadership and managers to ensure people strategy and HR priorities directly support business growth and commercial objectives.
  • Assess, develop and continuously improve the UK HR framework, bringing proven best practice, modern approaches and practical solutions to the organisation.
  • Take ownership of the full employee lifecycle, including workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, development, engagement, retention and offboarding.
  • Provide confident and pragmatic advice on UK employment law, employee relations and people risk, ensuring the business remains compliant and appropriately protected.
  • Lead on complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance and capability processes.
  • Develop and maintain robust HR policies, processes, procedures and documentation that are compliant, practical and aligned with the company’s culture and values.
  • Establish and continuously improve HR governance, controls and people-risk management, identifying potential issues before they become material risks.
  • Partner with managers to strengthen leadership capability, performance standards, employee engagement and accountability.
  • Own and improve HR reporting and people analytics, providing leadership with meaningful insights to support decision-making. Ensure HR processes and practices are consistent, efficient and scalable as the UK business grows.
  • Support organisational development, change management and evolving workforce requirements.
  • Lead or support compensation, benefits, employee development and other people initiatives as required.
  • Stay current with developments in UK employment legislation, HR best practice and market trends, proactively advising the business on relevant changes.
  • Act as an independent HR expert, challenging existing practices where appropriate and confidently recommending better ways of working.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with significant experience operating at HR Manager, Senior HR Manager, HR Business Partner or equivalent level.
  • Strong and demonstrable knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Proven ability to operate as an independent HR leader, with the confidence and judgement to make decisions, prioritise effectively and take ownership without extensive direction.
  • A track record of building, improving or professionalising HR functions, policies and processes.
  • Strong employee relations expertise, including experience managing complex and sensitive cases.
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to balance business objectives with employee experience, compliance and people risk.
  • Excellent stakeholder-management skills, with the credibility to advise and challenge senior leaders and managers.
  • Strong judgement, discretion and emotional intelligence when dealing with sensitive people matters.
  • Highly organised and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving and evolving environment.
  • Best-practice mindset — someone who actively looks beyond “how things have always been done” and brings new ideas, benchmarks and solutions to the business.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex HR matters clearly and practically.
