ICP-MS Analyst

ABOUT YOU 

You are a detail-oriented and motivated analytical chemist with practical experience in ICP-MS and a strong interest in fuels, lubricants and petroleum products. You take pride in producing accurate, reliable results and are confident with sample preparation, instrument operation and troubleshooting. 

Required skills and experience:

• Good IT literacy skills (including Microsoft Word and Excel)
• Previous experience of working in a laboratory environment, ideally with ICP-MS/OES techniques
• Demonstrable laboratory experience with experimental test methods
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Sciences or a related discipline
• Practical laboratory experience using ICP-MS
• Experience with sample preparation and dilution techniques for complex matrices
• Understanding of analytical chemistry principles, calibration, quality control and data interpretation

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 

The role focuses on ICP-MS analysis of environmental samples, method development and validation. Working within a fast-paced commercial laboratory environment, you will ensure that analytical testing is performed safely, accurately and efficiently, while meeting customer requirements, laboratory quality standards and relevant international testing methods. The role will suit an analytical chemist with experience in ICP-MS who is looking to develop their technical expertise within the fuels, lubricants and petroleum testing industry.

Key activities:

• Undertaking and co-ordinating ICP-MS-MS testing using established test methods
• Interpretation of test data and provision of meaningful conclusions based on test results
• Providing advice to customers on methods of testing and other issues relating to product analysis
• Maintenance of existing test equipment and developing/commissioning of new test methods and equipment as required

• Ensuring compliance with relevant quality and accreditation procedures
