Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Integration Solutions Architect to lead the design, governance and modernisation of enterprise integration solutions across cloud-native, legacy and external partner environments.

The role will have a strong focus on Microsoft Azure and Azure API Management (APIM), designing secure, scalable and resilient integration architectures. You will work closely with engineering, platform, DevOps and architecture teams to establish API standards, integration patterns, automated deployment approaches and secure connectivity across Azure environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end architecture and design of enterprise integration solutions across Azure, on-premises and hybrid environments.
• Produce High-Level Designs (HLDs), Solution Architecture Documents and interface/API specifications.
• Design and govern enterprise APIs using Azure API Management (APIM).
• Define API design and governance standards, including OpenAPI/Swagger, versioning, schema management and API lifecycle management.
• Design APIM Products, subscriptions, throttling and consumption models for internal and external consumers.
• Establish reusable API and integration patterns and promote API discovery and reuse.
• Design and implement APIM policies and Policy Fragments covering areas such as authentication, routing, transformation and payload validation.
• Define secure API architectures using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, mTLS, Microsoft Entra ID and Azure Key Vault.
• Design secure hybrid integration architectures incorporating Azure VNets, Private Endpoints, Application Gateway/WAF and Hub-and-Spoke architectures.
• Define non-functional requirements covering scalability, availability, performance, resilience and disaster recovery.
• Work with Platform and DevOps teams to establish CI/CD and APIOps/GitOps practices for API deployments.
• Guide Infrastructure as Code implementation using Terraform or Bicep.
• Design integration patterns using REST APIs, microservices, Azure Service Bus, Event Grid and event-driven architectures.
• Establish monitoring and observability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Application Insights.
• Present solution designs through architecture governance and review processes.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams and promote API-first and loosely coupled architecture patterns.
  
  

Qualifications

Essential Skills & Experience

• 8+ years' experience across software engineering, solution architecture or integration architecture, with significant experience leading enterprise solution designs.
• Strong experience designing distributed, cloud and enterprise integration solutions.
• Deep hands-on architectural knowledge of Azure API Management (APIM).
• Experience with APIM networking, including internal VNet configurations, private DNS and Hub-and-Spoke architectures.
• Strong knowledge of APIM policies, Policy Fragments and API gateway configuration.
• Experience with API Products, subscriptions and API consumption models.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices and enterprise integration patterns.
• Experience with asynchronous and event-driven integration using technologies such as Azure Service Bus and Event Grid.
• Strong API/application security knowledge including OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, mTLS and Azure Key Vault.
• Experience designing and implementing cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code tooling.
• Experience working with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience producing HLDs and presenting architecture designs through governance/review processes.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with engineering, technology and business stakeholders.
  
  

Desirable Skills

• Experience with Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions and Event Grid.
• Experience implementing APIOps/GitOps approaches for API lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of Azure API Center or similar API cataloguing/governance platforms.
• Experience with Azure observability tooling including Application Insights, Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
• Knowledge of emerging AI integration patterns such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) or AI Gateway capabilities.
• Microsoft certifications such as:
• Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
• Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204)
