Private Equity Associate, London


We're partnered with a UK-based private equity firm investing in founder-led and entrepreneurial businesses across a range of sectors. The firm has an established track record of partnering with management teams to support growth, operational improvement and strategic development. With a strong pipeline of new opportunities and an active portfolio, the team is seeking to add an Investment Associate to support continued growth.


The Investment Associate will work closely with senior investment professionals across all aspects of the investment lifecycle. The role offers broad exposure to origination, execution and portfolio management within a generalist investment mandate, providing significant responsibility and direct interaction with management teams, advisors and portfolio company stakeholders.


Key responsibilities

  • Support the assessment and execution of new investment opportunities, including financial analysis, valuation and commercial assessment.
  • Build and maintain integrated financial models to evaluate investment returns, capital structures and downside scenarios.
  • Prepare investment papers, internal approval materials and presentations for investment committee discussions.
  • Conduct market, industry and company research to support investment screening, thematic work and deal origination activities.
  • Coordinate and support commercial, financial, legal and operational due diligence processes on live transactions.
  • Assist with transaction structuring, negotiations and execution, working alongside management teams and external advisors.
  • Monitor portfolio company performance, analyse operating and financial results, and contribute to value creation initiatives.
  • Support portfolio company management teams on strategic projects, acquisitions, financing activities and business planning.
  • Contribute to fundraising, investor reporting and broader firm-wide initiatives as required.


Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience within private equity, investment banking, corporate finance, or a comparable analytical environment.
  • Strong financial modelling, valuation and accounting skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to assess businesses across multiple sectors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in private equity investing and supporting businesses through long-term growth and value creation.
