CNWL have an exciting opportunity for an Inpatient LAS (Trust Grade) Doctor to work within pne of the Community HUBS in Brent, based at Park Royal Centre for Mental Health

This is a full time, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm post, and we are looking for individuals with previous experience working within the NHS, ideally in Psychiatry.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have a central role in providing medical input within the well-established community mental health team. They will work closely with the other members of the multi¬disciplinary team, in order to ensure that patients are provided with the highest standards of care. You will be supervised and supported by one of the Consultant Psychiatrists in the locality.

They will be expected to ensure that any leave taken is covered by members of the clinical teams within which you work. The directorate is keen ensure flexible working and you may be asked to undertake additional duties to maintain high quality patient care.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

The clinical duties of post holder are: This is a split post between two teams covering the CT gaps in CMHHS and in the on call rota.

  • Assessment (including assessment of risk), treatment and management of adults with mental health problems (functional and organic).
  • Treatment, using a sound knowledge of the evidence for pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, in accordance with NICE and relevant guidance.
  • Formulating psychiatric opinions about a bio-psycho-social care plan.
  • Full participation in the multidisciplinary team providing care in the community.
  • Review and monitoring of their caseload to ensure appropriate care packages are put in place and discharges facilitated to maintain patient flow.
  • Domiciliary visits to provide assessment and treatment services and in response to emergencies.
  • Contribution to care quality through quality improvement (QI) projects and relevant participation in local and Trust wide care quality processes.
  • Active involvement in teaching of undergraduate medical students.
  • Supervising the clinical work of the trainee and multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Psychiatric assessments of residents who may be in crisis in another borough.
  • Close liaison with the wards to facilitate admission and discharge planning.
  • Liaison with HTT, Psychiatric Liaison Services, AMHP services and Forensic Services in and outside the borough.
  • Provide support to staff in the different applications of Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
  • Supporting the MDT team to provide the best clinical care for patients.
  • Accurate record keeping according to the Trust’s and professional guidelines.
  • Supporting the Consultant Psychiatrists in chairing MDT, CPA, professionals and best interest meetings and preparing medical reports for MHA Tribunals/Managers Hearing.

Essential criteria

  • Primary Medical Degree
  • Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in psychiatry at FY2 level
