  • We have an exciting opportunity to join our Oncology Service as a Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), working across all tumour sites.
  • This a newly created, fixed term position for 12 months. Secondment opportunities will be considered.
  • As the lead CNS, you will be expected to provide clinical leadership and professional support to the Oncology CNS team, promoting high standards of patient care and driving service development. The role will also involve delivering education, mentorship and professional development across the team.
  • The will involve the autonomy of running your nurse led follow up clinics supporting patient pathways and will require you to support prescribing activities.
  • The post holder will lead, manage, develop, and support the provision of the Oncology Service, delivering high-quality care.
  • The post holder will demonstrate a high level of expertise within Oncology service providing advice, education and support to staff, patients, their families and carers and carers.
  • They will be responsible for the ongoing development of clinical practice and standards of care within the service, including the development of policies, procedures and protocols and guidelines in collaboration with other members of the multi-disciplinary teams.
  • The post holder will practice autonomously within the Oncology service, encompassing the skills of advanced clinical assessment and non-medical prescribing, examination, diagnosis, and treatment within an agreed scope of practice.
  • They will ensure safe treatment, referral, follow up and discharge of patients within the service. Act as a specialist resource/ clinical expert for the Trust and provide specialist advice in relation to care of patients.
  • The post holder will provide arrange of educational and training programmes for the multidisciplinary team, patients, families, and carers in regards Oncology.
