Learning and Development Consultant: Head of Wiggin Academy 2030 - 12 month FTC

Licensed sponsor Cheltenham Contract Posted 1 day ago

Who we are

We're an award-winning law firm that specialises in media, technology and intellectual property. We have around 250 people based mainly in London, Cheltenham and Brussels.

Introduction

Wiggin Academy 2030 has Board backing, a clear direction and its first content in development. We are now looking for someone to bring it all together and turn the plans into a programme that works well across the firm.

About the role

You'll lead the next stage of the Academy: bringing the programme together, getting it into delivery and helping our internal experts turn what they know into useful, practical learning.

The role is a 12 month fixed term contract, 3 or 4 days per week. It is based in Cheltenham, with time in London as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Take the current plans through launch, delivery and review to get the Academy up and running.
  • Facilitate sessions yourself where your experience will add value and/or impact for the audience.
  • Help partners and teams turn their knowledge into clear, useful learning by focusing on embedding learning.
  • Make sure learning connects to live work, manager conversations and clear follow-up actions.
  • Connect the different programmes, LMS content, Teams channels and performance objectives so the Academy feels like one offer.
  • Track and report on whether people are using the learning and whether it is making a difference in their work.
  • Identify Academy content that could be useful to clients or support Wiggin's voice in the market, where there is a clear need and owner.

About you

Experience

  • Strong experience in a senior L&D role.
  • Able to work confidently with partners and other senior, expert audiences.
  • Experience designing programmes that bring together facilitated, digital and on-the-job learning.
  • A warm, direct and engaging facilitation style.
  • A practical understanding of how learning sticks and how to measure whether it is working.
  • Good commercial judgement and the confidence to challenge activity that is unlikely to add value.
  • Clear, concise writing that works for busy people.
  • Comfortable using digital learning, LMS content and AI in a sensible and responsible way.

Summary

Wiggin principle - What that means in this role

Learn it. Use it. Own it.

Build confidence and capability across the firm, rather than creating something that depends on one person.

Practical over polished theory

Well-designed learning that people can use in their day-to-day work.

One firm

Give equal focus to our legal and Business Management colleagues throughout the Academy.

Clear and human

Make sure everything sounds like Wiggin - direct, specialist and forward-looking.

Internal first

Use our own experts where they are best placed and bring in external support only where it adds something we do not already have.

Our Culture

Our culture is unique among law firms - both in what we expect from our people and the way we create value in the industries we serve. We empower our people, expect commitment and excellence, and celebrate when we achieve it.

Our values are at the heart of everything that we do and define Wiggin as a workplace: being visionary, authentic, unified, responsible and excellent across-the-board.

There isn't a typical Wiggin person. We aim to build teams that are diverse in thought, perspective and experience to provide a more rounded service to our internal and external clients.

We operate a discretionary hybrid working model allowing 2 days per week working from home. We offer an attractive remuneration package including 25 days holiday (plus birthdays off), private medical insurance and more from your first day of employment.
