Salary - £29,725 - £37,527 per annum (pro rata for part time hours)
Hours - 4.5 hours per week, Tuesday evenings
Contract - Permanent, all year rouund

Peterborough College is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Lecturer in Counselling to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to share your industry expertise, delivering high-quality teaching and supporting learners to achieve their full potential across a range of Counselling programmes from Level 1 through to Level 5 (HND).
This role is specifically for teaching on a Tuesday evening, making it an ideal opportunity for a practising counsellor or education professional looking to combine their industry experience with teaching in a flexible, part-time capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver inspiring and high-quality teaching across Counselling programmes, ensuring an outstanding learner experience.
- Assess learner work, provide constructive feedback and monitor progress to support achievement and retention.
- Develop and maintain engaging learning materials, schemes of work and course resources.
- Provide academic tutorials, guidance and support to help learners achieve their goals.
- Contribute to course coordination, quality assurance activities and internal verification processes where appropriate.
- Build positive relationships with learners, employers and stakeholders to support progression and employability.
- Participate in student recruitment activities, open events and the promotion of Counselling programmes.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with substantial and recent counselling experience who is passionate about education and learner success. You will have excellent subject knowledge, strong communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate adult learners from a range of backgrounds.
You should also have
- A relevant counselling qualification at Level 4 or above.
- A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one.
- An Assessor qualification (A1, TAQA or CAVA).
- Strong organisational and IT skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
Previous experience teaching within Further or Higher Education, course coordination and internal verification would be advantageous.
