Lighting Designer

Role Description The Lighting Designer will work on-site at the Edinburgh studio in a full-time capacity, collaborating closely with architects, interior designers, engineers, and clients to develop integrated lighting concepts for a range of projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating lighting schemes, selecting fixtures, preparing drawings and specifications, and coordinating lighting layouts with architectural and interior design plans. The role involves producing visualizations, presentations, and technical documentation, as well as supporting project delivery from concept through detailed design and site coordination. The Lighting Designer will attend design reviews, contribute to sustainable and energy-efficient solutions, and ensure that lighting design aligns with project budgets, timelines, and performance requirements.
Qualifications
- Ability to demonstrate strong skills in Lighting Design and Architectural Lighting for interior and exterior environments.
- Knowledge of relevant lighting standards, sustainability principles, and energy-efficient technologies.
- Competence in design and documentation tools such as Revit, BIM platforms, AutoCAD, Dialux/Relux, and presentation software.
- Strong visual, conceptual, and communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly to multidisciplinary teams and clients.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
- Experience working in a design practice or consultancy environment; international project experience is an advantage.
- Ability to work on-site in Edinburgh, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines while maintaining high design quality.
