The Emergency Department at Southmead Hospital sees between 300and 350 patients per day, with a wide variety of conditions predominantly from the North of Bristol but from the region as part of the Trusts tertiary services. Please note the JD for this role does nothave RCEM approval due to the differences with the SPA split within the job plan. Applicants should have a CCT or be within twelve months of achieving this at the date of interview or be listed on the GMC's specialist register to be eligible for application for a substantive post. Main duties of the job The successful applicant will work with the established 29 Consultants and 2 Specialists in a rota including evening, weekend and overnight sessions as part of their job plan. The successful applicant will be expected to take a role in our new (co-located) minor injuries unit, as well as working with the other Consultants on the shop floor, enabling the Department to meet National Service Frameworks and Government targets. The appointee will be contractually accountable to the Bristol Foundation NHS Trust for the provision of services. The appointee will be managerially responsible to the Chief Executive through the Divisional Director. All Consultants are required to undergo an annual appraisal carried out in accordance with the Trust policy. Consultants are also required to take an active and co-operative approach to their job planning, which will be reviewed on an annual basis by their clinical Director.
