About the opportunity
In this role you'll own the marketing for certain areas of the business, from shaping the strategy through to getting campaigns out the door. You'll write the briefs, oversee sign-off and approvals, and support the Marketing Executive in working with our implementation team to make sure every piece of activity lands on time, on budget and to a high standard.
What you'll be doing
- Lead sector marketing: define, lead and implement the marketing strategy for your business sectors, covering the full marketing mix across all channels.
- Manage day-to-day activity: oversee the running of marketing activity for your business sectors, keeping it on schedule, within budget and to a consistently high standard.
- Measure what works: evaluate the effectiveness of activity alongside the wider team and use the results to improve future campaigns.
- Build sector insight: develop a deep understanding of customers in your sectors and use it to shape strategy, messaging and campaigns.
- Engage stakeholders: communicate regularly with internal stakeholders, keeping them informed and involved at the right points.
- Contribute to planning: help shape the annual marketing plans and associated budgets.
- Write strong creative briefs: develop clear, effective briefs that give the implementation team everything they need to produce engaging, on-brand marketing materials.
- Own the brief process across the team: review and manage briefs written by the wider team, making sure they're clear, complete and aligned to objectives before work begins.
- Manage sign-off and approvals: check work against the brief and brand guidelines, gather feedback, and guide materials through the approval process with stakeholders.
- Support delivery through the implementation team: support the Marketing Executive in driving delivery through the implementation team, helping track progress, resolve blockers and keep projects moving to deadline.
- Lead and develop a Marketing Executive: manage their daily workload, set annual objectives, and support their training, development and progression.
About you
You're an experienced marketer who enjoys both shaping strategy and getting into the detail of delivery. You write a clear brief, spot what's off-brief at a glance, and keep projects moving without losing sight of quality.
Experience
- Marketing background: at least 5 years' experience in a marketing role, with hands-on experience across all elements of the marketing mix.
- Strategy and planning: a track record of preparing and delivering strategic marketing plans, and presenting them confidently to stakeholders.
- Briefing and approvals: experience writing creative briefs and managing work through review, sign-off and approval.
- Budget management: experience of developing marketing budgets and delivering activity within them.
- People management: experience of managing, supporting or developing a junior team member is desirable.
- Education: a degree or equivalent in business, marketing or a related subject.
Skills and approach
- Excellent communicator: strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Creative with an eye for detail: you bring fresh ideas and have high standards when it comes to checking and approving work.
- Highly organised: you can juggle multiple projects, prioritise effectively and meet tight deadlines.
- Customer-focused: you're passionate about improving the customer experience and use insight to shape your marketing.
- Positive and proactive: you bring energy and enthusiasm to your work and the team around you.
Who we are
- The products we’ll all need tomorrow depend on us making the most of today’s end-of-life metals, plastics and other materials.
- Take a car at the end of its life - most people just see a…car at the end of its life.
- We see steel, aluminium, copper, plastics, rubber, glass, parts, fluids, costs, risks, markets and – most importantly - possibilities.
Now, multiply that by thousands of cars – we recover, reuse and recycle all those valuable materials and put them back to work as low-carbon materials for manufacturing, infrastructure, energy and transport.
And that’s just one thing we recycle. Add buildings, factories, ships, railways and industrial equipment. That’s all our hard work – the gritty, practical, commercial, difficult work our 4,000 global colleagues do every day.
Anything from a can to an aircraft carrier can become anything from a bicycle to a building and, at the same time, we help to avoid 19 million tonnes of carbon and 10 million tonnes of waste to landfill, protecting nature, resources and the next generation’s future.
Which is all well and good for us to say, but this is what the real people behind the really hard work think:
- “The people who work here are from varied backgrounds and have a variety of beliefs, all of which are accepted and respected.”
- “I’m encouraged to keep a healthy work-life balance so that I can be performing at my best.”
- “I’ve been supported every step of the way in my career progression.”
- ‘‘EMR offers a fantastic and inclusive environment; collaboration across the whole business, humility and hard work.”
Four years as a certified Great Place To Work is no small feat. Oh, and don’t forget one of the UK’s Best Workplaces in Manufacturing, Production and Transportation. That’s pretty good too.
But we can do better. We’re aiming for a place in the top 60 companies in the UK – not for the accolade but for the improvement. A journey you should probably join us for.
If you want to be part of something bigger than yourself, have a role that really makes a difference and work with likeminded people towards the same purpose, this is the role for you.
Let’s crack on.
