Role Summary
We are recruiting a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join a leading aerospace Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) organisation. This role focuses on the repair, overhaul, assembly and testing of safety-critical aircraft mechanical components. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining quality, safety and regulatory compliance while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Disassemble, inspect and assess aircraft mechanical assemblies in line with approved documentation.
- Interpret Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs), repair instructions and engineering data.
- Perform precision mechanical repairs, reassembly and functional testing.
- Assemble integrated mechanical systems, ensuring correct fit, alignment and performance.
- Conduct hydraulic and pneumatic testing and fault diagnosis where required.
- Support root cause analysis, fault finding and process improvement activities.
- Complete accurate technical documentation, test records and work reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Proven hands-on experience in precision mechanical assembly, repair or overhaul.
- Working knowledge of small hydraulic systems, testing and fault diagnosis.
- Experience working with gearboxes in aerospace, automotive, marine, motorcycle or similar industries.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, tolerances and materials.
- Ability to produce accurate technical documentation and follow regulated processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within aerospace, aviation, defence, automotive or marine engineering environments.
- Familiarity with aircraft components and safety-critical assemblies.
- Knowledge of quality-controlled workshop environments, audits and calibration systems.
- Previous MRO, aircraft component overhaul or workshop leadership experience.
