Medical Lead
Medical Lead - Remote
We're looking for a GP with a genuine interest in digital health and preventative medicine to join Phlo as our part time Medical Lead.
This is a newly created role providing expert generalist clinical input across two complementary areas: shaping the design and development of our digital health products, and providing clinical governance and medical oversight within our existing prescribing services. You'll be a strong generalist clinician, but more importantly, a collaborative, solutions-oriented one — someone who acts as a clinical co-creator, not a gatekeeper, and who's motivated to find the safest, most clinically robust version of an ambitious idea rather than defaulting to the most conservative one.
The Job
On a day-to-day basis, you'll be involved in the following:
● Reviewing and validating clinical content and product recommendations, ensuring accuracy, safety and evidence-alignment without sacrificing accessibility or user agency
● Shaping patient journey design across clinical areas, balancing clinical rigour with pragmatic, user-focused thinking
● Defining escalation thresholds and safety-netting pathways
● Pushing back where safety or evidence genuinely warrants it — always with a constructive alternative
● Acting as a named GP medical advisor supporting our clinical service, providing generalist medical oversight in a regulated prescribing environment
● Participating in regular MDT meetings with pharmacists and prescribers to review complex or escalated cases
● Supporting clinical incident review, significant event analysis (SEA) and root cause analysis
● Contributing to the development and review of clinical protocols, SOPs and prescribing policies
● Contributing to our clinical governance infrastructure, including adverse event processes and clinical audit
● Supporting clinical education within the team, including case-based learning and clinical updates
The Person
Ideally, we’re looking for someone with the following:
● Full GMC registration with a licence to practise; inclusion on the GP Register or the relevant Specialist Register
Broad generalist clinical experience across common long-term conditions
● Experience of MDT working and clinical governance in a regulated setting
● A collaborative, solutions-oriented clinical style - rigorous on safety, resourceful in finding how ambitious ideas can be delivered safely
● Strong communication skills; comfortable engaging technical and non-clinical stakeholders with clarity and authority
● Experience managing obesity and related metabolic conditions in clinical practice.
● Interest or experience in preventative or lifestyle medicine (desirable)
● Prior involvement in digital health, healthtech or clinical product development (desirable)
● Comfort with health data, connected devices or regulated health environments (desirable)
The Perks
And in joining Phlo, you’ll receive a competitive package designed to support your
wellbeing, development and success, including:
● Salary of £50,000 pro rata (2 days per week)
● Opportunity to join a high-growth online pharmacy
● Regular collaboration with other teams in the business (product, engineering, design) to continually shape and enhance our services
● Company Bonus Scheme – up to 10% depending on performance
● 33 days annual leave (inclusive of 8 bank holidays)
● An extra day of annual leave for every complete year of service, up to 5 extra days
● An extra day off for your Birthday to prolong the celebrations
● Pension scheme – 5% employer contribution
● Private Medical Insurance via Vitality
● Bereavement Leave policy covering family, friends, pets, and miscarriage
● Enhanced Maternity, Paternity and Adoption Pay after 1 year of service
● Charity Day to support a cause that’s important to you
● Dependant Leave to take care of the people who rely on you
● Duvet Days to rest and reset
● Fertility Leave to support your journey to parenthood
● Pawternity Leave to welcome a new pet
● Menopause Leave to support employees
● 20% Staff Discount on Phlo Clinic products
