Multi Skilled Operative

We are recruiting for a Multi Skilled Operative to join the fantastic team at our Tarmac Asphalt plant at Elstow, close to Bedford in Bedfordshire. The plant is easily accessible via most major road networks and commutable from Bedford, Kempston, Cranfield, Sandy, Milton Keynes, St Neots, Rushden, Letchworth Garden City, Bletchley, Northampton, Luton, Stevenage, Rushden Wellingborough and the surrounding areas.

The Multi Skilled Operative will work on the day-to-day operations driving mobile plant and other site duties, you will work with the team to the site plan, you will ensure that stocks are maintained and replenished in good time.Your responsibilities as the Multi Skilled Operative will include (not exhaustive):Operating Mobile Plant on siteWorking with other members of the team to ensure that customers get good quality material and on-time deliveriesAssist the Supervisor with meeting daily/weekly production targetsFollow SHE policies and proceduresEnsure Plant conforms with safety requirements at all timesHealth, Safety, Environmental and Quality responsibilitiesInspections on the plant and acting on defects and implement remedial actionEnsure that plant availability is maximisedWorking to keep housekeeping around site to a high standardPrevious experience working in an Asphalt / RMX / Plant / Quarry / Industrial Manufacturing environment would prove highly beneficial; but this is not essential as training will be given to the right candidateThe role is a Shift position, so you will be required to work a set shift pattern with overtime is available to meet with our site’s production needsThe Ideal CandidateTo succeed in the role of a Multi Skilled Operative the following is what we are looking for in a future colleague:Knowledge of PlantIT LiterateShovel License – highly desirableGood Timekeeping – flexible as to the site requirements Good Communication skills – bringing problems to the attention of Line ManagementPrevious experience in mobile plant operationsFull UK manual car Driving Licence with no more than 6 penalty pointsWhy TarmacWe don't just offer a job, we offer a career.Alongside this role, you'll have access to industry-leading rewards, development opportunities, and a culture that puts people first, including:Bonus schemeEnhanced holiday entitlementContributory pension schemeAccess to the Tarmac Reward website with discounts on retailers, holidays, etc.Access to our Employee Assistance helpline for free and confidential adviceAccess to our Employee Communities, where you can network, learn from others, and increase your awareness of the support available to you.
