At Sodexo, we’re looking for a skilled Shift Engineer to join our Facilities Engineering team at our GSK site in Central London. You’ll play an important role in keeping the building, plant and equipment operating safely and efficiently, delivering high-quality planned and reactive maintenance in a professional environment.
If you have a strong background in building services engineering, enjoy solving problems and take pride in maintaining high standards, this could be the next step in your engineering career.
What you’ll do
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across a range of mechanical, electrical and building services equipment.
- Maintain and troubleshoot fan coil units (FCUs), air handling units (AHUs), pumps, motors, plumbing and other building services systems.
- Support emergency lighting controls, including ZEN Lighting, alongside general plumbing and carpentry tasks.
- Complete fire door inspections and support water hygiene requirements, including flushing and temperature monitoring in line with L8 requirements.
- Identify faults, resolve issues within your level of competence and escalate more complex problems when required.
- Work safely in line with risk assessments, safe systems of work and Permit to Work procedures.
- Support contractor activities, including monitoring work and ensuring site safety requirements are followed.
- Update maintenance records and work orders accurately using the site’s Maximo system and handheld devices.
- Help maintain plant efficiency, identify opportunities to reduce energy use and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, clients and site management to deliver a reliable, responsive service.
What you’ll bring
- A Level 3 qualification in Building Services or a relevant engineering discipline, such as electrical or mechanical engineering.
- IOSH Passport or a valid CSCS Card.
- At least five years’ experience in building services or plant engineering, with a broad understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience working with building services equipment and carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Good communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities and confidence using IT systems.
- A proactive, organised approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
It would be advantageous if you also have
- Previous Authorised Person (AP) or Competent Person (CP) appointments, particularly in low-voltage electrical systems, confined spaces or working at height.
- Experience with Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations.
- Relevant additional training or experience in building management systems, water hygiene or other building services disciplines.
You’ll also need to be flexible to support other properties within the GSK West London portfolio when required, including occasional travel for training, meetings or site support. Further training will be provided where needed for aspects of the role.
