Music Administrator, HM Chapel Royal

East Molesey, England, United Kingdom Full-time Posted 5 days ago
We are the independent charity that loves and looks after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. The palaces are the setting for the stories that shape us all, and we’re bringing them to people in ways that mean more to them. We want everyone to find themselves in the spaces and stories we share.

Hampton Court Palace, one of the most iconic and famous buildings in the world, is the headquarters to Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) and the Chapel Royal is the spiritual heart of the Palace - a place of worship for visitors, staff, and a regular congregation.

The music department of HM Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace is led by the Director of Music, supported by an Assistant Director of Music and Senior and Junior Organ Scholars. The Choir currently sings two choral services on Sundays and is made up of six professional adult singers and 18-20 boy choristers. Recent ventures involve successful recording projects, filming for television documentaries, and performances at high-profile events, with further ambitions to develop the Choir's profile and activities. In 2026/2027, the Chapel will launch a new girl chorister programme, offering girls the opportunity to sing in the Chapel for the first time in history. It is an exciting time to join the Chapel team with many areas ready for growth and development.

An opportunity has arisen for a new Music Administrator who will provide administrative support of the highest quality, helping to ensure that the Chapel can realise its growing ambitions.

Tasks will include day-to-day administrative activities including diary and inbox management, records administration, attending meetings and taking notes, etc.

The recruitment of the choristers and related responsibilities are also an essential part of the role as well as maintaining communication with all Chapel stakeholders and contributing to and supporting the Chapel events programme.

The ideal candidate will be a highly organised, efficient, and proactive administrator with strong written and verbal communication skills. You will have experience working in a people-focused environment and be confident in building positive relationships with colleagues, volunteers, and external partners.

You will have excellent attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with experience of end-to-end project coordination and supporting internal and external events.

You will be a confident user of Microsoft Office and digital systems, with experience maintaining databases, managing administrative records, and supporting financial processes.

Professionalism, discretion, and sensitivity, alongside flexibility and a willingness to support activities during busy periods are essential as well as a commitment to safeguarding and compliance, with an understanding of relevant responsibilities, ideally gained within an educational setting.

An interest in choral music, heritage, or music education, together with an understanding of the Anglican Choral Tradition, would be desirable.
