Description: Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent Join us to play a key role in providing advice and guidance on pay and grading across a diverse range of services both centrally and in schools. About the role Our small yet friendly team of Pay and Grading Advisors evaluate roles, benchmark salaries, and design fair pay structures to ensure internal equity, legal compliance and talent retention. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality, professional pay and grading advice to support our managers across the organisation. You'll undertake job evaluations for new posts, amended roles and in support of organisational change processes. Furthermore, you'll advise on market pay, honoraria and pay related queries. You'll be pivotal in the development, review and implementation of pay related policies and procedures which, with Local Government Reorganisation on the horizon will be an exciting and dynamic challenge! Liaising with managers at all levels including Directors, you'll provide comprehensive advice on aspects of pay, grading, and job evaluation including Chief Officer, Teacher, Soulbury, Further Education and Youth and Community roles. You'll be a part of and work closely with a substantial team of HR professionals from different disciplines including HR Operations, Organisational Development, Health & Safety, Resourcing and Management Information. The team works on a hybrid basis with the expectation that you work from any Council office for two days per week. This is a career graded post LG Band 7 – LG Band 8. Appointment to a level will depend on the outcome of the selection process and experience of the successful candidate. Dependent on availability of work/vacancy at a higher level, progress will be by satisfactory performance, agreed at annual Appraisals and through on-going supervision. About you With a sound understanding of the principles of job evaluation, you'll have experience of evaluating posts, reviewing HR or pay related policies and of advising on pay and grading matters. You'll have a keen eye for detail, to ensure evaluations are completed with accuracy and consistency. Using strong communication and interview skills, you'll be able to effectively elicit information, appropriately challenge managers and present training sessions to a wide range of audiences. Confident, with a tenacity to provide excellent customer service, you'll be enthusiastic and passionate about working with a scheme which is fit for purpose, flexible and compliant with legal standards. Although we use the Greater London Provincial Council job evaluation scheme, we are happy to consider applications from candidates with experience of working with other schemes.
