In this role, you will report directly to the Global Manager of Plants Project Management. You will be working with a HVDC tender or a project along with an appointed plants team, close to the Plants Lead Engineer and Project Engineering Manager, as well as have interactions with all other relevant internal and external stakeholders.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary Plants & Civil engineering teams responsible for delivering HVDC converter station projects, including Plant Design, Station Auxiliary Power Systems, Electromechanical Engineering, and Civil & Structural Engineering scopes.
  • Develop and implement robust execution strategies for the Plants & Civil scope, ensuring successful delivery of projects from concept development, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, energisation, and final handover.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, and change control processes to achieve project objectives while maintaining compliance with quality, safety, and technical requirements.
  • Drive coordination and integration across engineering disciplines to ensure efficient delivery of substation infrastructure, including electrical plant, auxiliary systems, civil works, and associated interfaces.
  • Lead technical reviews and ensure engineering deliverables meet project specifications, customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate closely with the Plants Lead Engineer, Project Engineering Manager, Customer, Construction Teams and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor and report project performance, engineering progress, technical risks, and commercial impacts to key stakeholders within the organisation.
  • Manage critical technical and contractual interfaces with customers, civil subcontractors, suppliers, offshore platform builders (where applicable), and third-party engineering partners.
  • Support tendering activities by developing execution strategies, project schedules, cost estimates, and risk assessments for HVDC projects.
  • Promote continuous improvement, technical excellence, and adherence to Hitachi Energy's engineering, quality, and safety processes.



Your Background



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven project management experience delivering HVDC, HV/MV substation, transmission, distribution, or other large-scale power infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrable experience managing projects through the full project lifecycle from concept, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, energisation, and project close-out.
  • Strong experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams across Civil, Structural, Electrical, Electromechanical, and Plant Engineering disciplines.
  • Technical understanding of substation systems including transformers, switchgear, station auxiliary power systems, cable systems, earthing and lightning protection, and associated balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Experience managing engineering deliverables, technical reviews, design approvals, stakeholder engagement, contractor management, and interface coordination.
  • Knowledge of EPC/EPCM project delivery methodologies, project controls, budget management, forecasting, risk management, and change control processes.
  • Experience delivering projects within transmission, renewable energy, utilities, grid infrastructure, or other large-scale engineering environments is highly preferred.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage competing priorities, programme constraints, and project risks while maintaining delivery commitments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with experience working across global engineering and project delivery teams.
  • Proven ability to make informed technical and commercial decisions within complex project environments.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
