We are looking for an accomplished Principal Electrical Engineer to join a collaborative and forward-thinking engineering team delivering high-profile building and infrastructure projects. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in shaping electrical design solutions across a varied portfolio, while contributing to projects that demand technical excellence, innovation and commercial awareness.
As part of an internationally recognised engineering and consulting environment, you will help drive the successful delivery of complex multidisciplinary schemes from concept through to completion. Missions/Main Duties
- Take a leading role in the production and approval of electrical design concepts, drawings, specifications and technical documentation, helping to deliver high-quality solutions that meet client expectations and project objectives.
- Be a visible technical leader within the team, supporting design delivery from early-stage feasibility through to detailed design and construction information.
- Help shape better ways of working by contributing to the development of internal standards, procedures and practical design approaches that improve quality, consistency and efficiency.
- Work closely with colleagues across disciplines, clients and delivery teams to ensure electrical solutions are coordinated, practical and fully aligned with project requirements.
- Bring confidence and clarity to technical decision-making, reviewing design outputs, guiding others and helping to resolve challenges with sound engineering judgement.
- Play an active role in the preparation and review of reports, calculations, specifications and tender documentation, ensuring all outputs are robust, accurate and professionally presented.
- Support the delivery of projects in line with programme, budget and quality expectations, while keeping a close focus on technical excellence and client satisfaction.
- Champion compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, including CDM Regulations, helping to promote safe and responsible project delivery.
- Contribute to business success by building strong client relationships, supporting project opportunities and representing the team with professionalism and credibility.
- Lead by example in promoting a culture of collaboration, respect, continuous improvement and high performance, while helping others grow and succeed.
- Extensive knowledge of, and proven experience in, building services electrical design within the built environment and/or transport infrastructure sectors.
- Strong technical capability across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept design through to detailed delivery and construction support.
- Experience using industry-recognised design software, together with a sound understanding of relevant design standards, regulations and best practice.
- The ability to review, guide and improve technical work, with the confidence to advise colleagues on the most effective and commercially appropriate engineering solutions.
- A collaborative and client-focused mindset, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Commercial awareness and a practical understanding of project delivery, resource planning, risk, quality and client expectations.
- Demonstrated experience in managing or mentoring engineers and technicians, helping to develop capability and maintain high standards within the team.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professionally chartered status, such as CEng or equivalent.
