Make a difference. Change lives. Protect the public.

Are you passionate about supporting women to make positive changes in their lives and build a better future? Do you have the skills to assess risk, build professional relationships and support individuals to reduce reoffending?

We are looking for a motivated and committed Prison Offender Manager to join the Integrated Offender Management Unit (IOMU) at HMP & YOI Bronzefield. This is an opportunity to play a vital role in supporting women in custody, managing risk and helping them prepare for a safe and successful return to the community.

Working as part of a dedicated team, you will help women address the underlying factors contributing to their offending, access appropriate support and interventions, and make meaningful progress towards their sentence plan objectives.

About HMP Bronzefield

HMP Bronzefield is a closed local prison and the largest women's prison in the UK and Europe. We are committed to delivering high-quality, needs-led services that support women to make positive and lasting changes to their lives.

We care for around 14.5% of the national female prison population, including mothers with babies, young offenders, women serving a range of sentence lengths, foreign nationals and women on remand. Our focus is on rehabilitation, wellbeing and providing the right support to help women build a more positive future.

The prison provides a range of facilities and services, including residential units, a healthcare centre, gym, library, workshops, visits hall, chaplaincy and kitchen. As part of our team, you will contribute to an environment that promotes safety, dignity, rehabilitation and successful resettlement.

What you'll do

As a Prison Offender Manager, you will manage a caseload of approximately 40–60 women in custody, providing structured support, guidance and motivation throughout their sentence.

Your key responsibilities will include

  • Case management and sentence planning: Build professional, supportive relationships with residents, regularly reviewing progress and encouraging positive behavioural change.
  • Risk assessment and management: Complete OASys assessments, sentence plans and other risk assessments to identify criminogenic needs, assess risk of harm and inform effective risk management.
  • Resettlement and rehabilitation: Support women to address barriers to successful resettlement, including accommodation, employment, education and other factors linked to reducing reoffending.
  • Public protection: Prepare reports and contribute to MAPPA meetings, parole processes, Home Detention Curfew (HDC), Release on Temporary Licence (ROTL) and other relevant custodial procedures.
  • Multi-agency working: Work collaboratively with probation services, prison departments, voluntary organisations and community partners to coordinate interventions and support positive outcomes.
  • Reception and screening: Complete Part 1 of the Basic Custody Screening Tool (BCST) for newly received residents.
  • Accurate record keeping: Maintain timely and accurate records, assessments, reports and case management information, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

You will also contribute to team meetings, public protection discussions and performance targets, helping to ensure residents receive a consistent, high-quality service.

What we're looking for

We are seeking someone who can combine professionalism, empathy and sound judgement with a strong commitment to public protection and rehabilitation.

You will have

  • The ability to build effective, professional relationships with residents, colleagues and external partner agencies.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess information, identify patterns in offending behaviour, evaluate risk and make defensible decisions.
  • A non-judgemental understanding of the complex experiences and social challenges that can affect women in custody and their ability to resettle safely.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, accurate and professional reports.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a busy caseload, prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines.
  • The confidence to manage challenging or abusive behaviour while remaining calm, professional and consistent.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • An understanding of the pathways to reducing reoffending for women.

Experience in a custodial setting, probation, offender management, risk assessment or a related support service would be advantageous. Experience gained through voluntary work or the third sector is also valuable. A relevant degree or vocational qualification would be desirable.
