Our Clean Water teams are expanding across the Midlands, Wales and South West, creating opportunities for Process Engineers in Birmingham, Redditch, Derby, Cardiff, Bristol or Exeter. With significant investment driving improvements across the UK water sector, Stantec is working to develop the infrastructure needed to deliver safe, reliable and sustainable water supplies for the future.

As a Process Engineer – Clean Water, you’ll be part of a team tackling a wide range of water treatment challenges, applying your engineering knowledge to projects that make a tangible difference to communities and the environment. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and specialists, gaining exposure to different project stages while developing your technical skills and professional experience.

About The Role

As a Process Engineer, you’ll support the development and delivery of process engineering solutions across a variety of Clean Water projects. You’ll contribute to process calculations, design drawings, technical specifications and reports, helping to ensure that treatment solutions meet project requirements and relevant industry standards. You’ll also assist with assessing treatment options, developing process designs and resolving technical issues as projects progress from initial studies through to detailed design.

Working alongside senior engineers, project managers and other technical disciplines, you’ll help coordinate design activities and produce high-quality engineering deliverables. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues, expand your understanding of water treatment processes and take on increasing responsibility as your experience develops.

ABOUT YOU Essential

  • Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a relevant professional institution or actively working towards professional registration.
  • Experience in process engineering, ideally within Clean Water or a related water treatment environment.
  • Understanding of process engineering principles and their application to water treatment.
  • Ability to contribute to technical calculations, design documentation and engineering reports.
  • Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and develop technical expertise.
  • Awareness of relevant engineering standards, design requirements and health and safety principles.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

  • Experience contributing to water treatment works, treatment upgrades or water supply projects.
  • Familiarity with process design tools, calculations or technical drawing packages.
  • Exposure to feasibility studies, optioneering or the assessment of treatment technologies.
  • Experience working across different stages of the engineering design process.
  • Interest in developing knowledge of water quality, treatment performance and operational requirements.
  • An active interest in professional development and working towards chartership, where not already achieved.
