BAE Systems are seeking a number of motivated Project Control Leads to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering complex and high-profile programmes that support national security, defence, and advanced technology initiatives.


As Project Control Lead, you will be responsible for leading the project controls function across major programmes, ensuring robust planning, scheduling, cost management, risk management, performance reporting, and governance processes are implemented and maintained. You will work closely with Programme Managers, Engineering teams, Finance, Commercial, and key stakeholders to drive successful project delivery.



Key Responsibilities


  • Lead and manage all project control activities across assigned programmes and portfolios
  • Develop, maintain, and oversee integrated project schedules and resource plans.
  • Monitor project performance against cost, schedule, and scope baselines.
  • Provide accurate forecasting, performance analysis, and management reporting.
  • Implement and maintain Earned Value Management (EVM) processes where applicable.
  • Identify, analyse, and manage project risks, opportunities, and dependencies.
  • Support programme governance reviews and decision-making forums.
  • Ensure compliance with BAE Systems project management standards, processes, and controls.
  • Mentor and develop project controls professionals within the team.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across project control disciplines.


Skills & Experience

Essential


Significant experience in project controls within complex engineering, defence, aerospace, manufacturing, or infrastructure environments.

Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and performance reporting.

Experience using project management and planning tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex project data.

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Proven leadership experience managing teams and influencing senior stakeholders.


Desirable


Professional certification in Project Management, Project Controls, or related disciplines.


Experience of Earned Value Management(EVM).

Knowledge of defence sector programme delivery.

Experience working within highly regulated environments.
