THE POSITION

The Project Engineer provides project coordination support to manufacturing operations and capital initiatives, focusing on the delivery of assigned projects from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with technical, regulatory and operational requirements. The position plays a key role in coordinating cross-functional activities and implementing improvements to processes and equipment.

This is a fixed-term contract until 31st December 2027.

Tasks And Responsibilities

The person in this role will be responsible for coordinating and delivering engineering projects in a manufacturing environment. In particular, they will:

  • Coordinate project activities across internal stakeholders, contractors, vendors and support functions to ensure effective project execution
  • Manage assigned projects from initiation through completion, including scope definition, planning, execution and close-out
  • Support installation, commissioning and start-up of new equipment, as well as modifications to existing systems
  • Drive communication between stakeholders to identify issues and implement sustainable solutions within manufacturing processes
  • Support troubleshooting of equipment and process issues in collaboration with manufacturing teams
  • Contribute to validation activities, including preparation and maintenance of required documentation
  • Coordinate change control processes for equipment and process improvements, including documentation and action tracking
  • Ensure engineering documentation is created and maintained in line with compliance requirements (e.g. specifications, drawings, technical files)
  • Support the development of user requirements and specifications for future capital projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. Quality, Production, Engineering, Procurement) to ensure project alignment and compliance
  • Ensure all activities are performed in line with applicable regulatory, quality and safety standards (e.g. GMP, GxP, HSE)

Requirements

  • Experience in coordinating engineering or technical projects in a manufacturing environment (e.g. pharmaceutical, biotech or food industry)
  • Practical understanding of project delivery, including planning, execution and stakeholder coordination
  • Experience supporting equipment installation, commissioning or process improvements
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation and change control processes
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory and quality frameworks (e.g. GMP, GxP, HSE)
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across functions and organisational levels
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Structured and organised approach to work with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify and implement practical solutions
  • Degree in an engineering discipline (e.g. mechanical, electrical, chemical or process engineering)
  • Awareness of health and safety standards; IOSH, NEBOSH or an equivalent qualification would be an advantage
