What You’ll Do
- Run comprehensive smoke and regression test passes on nightly, stable, and release-candidate builds, providing clear go/no-go signals to release managers.
- Verify launch-blocking fixes in per-fix clone builds and on the release branch before and after they are picked for integration.
- Thoroughly test the application within top-traffic supported worlds, covering core functionalities such as inter-world travel, avatars, voice communication, social features, and multiplayer sessions.
- Reproduce and meticulously document crashes, hangs, ANRs, out-of-memory kills, and performance regressions reported from production, filing actionable bugs complete with reliable repro steps, device logs, and video evidence.
- Test cloud-streamed builds on mobile and PC alongside native VR builds, proactively identifying and flagging surface-specific issues.
- Create and diligently maintain test plans, test cases, and release checklists, ensuring they remain current as the list of supported worlds evolves.
- Assist in triaging incoming bug reports, confirming, deduplicating, assessing severity, and routing them to the appropriate support or engineering teams.
- Identify repetitive manual checks that are ripe for automation and contribute to expanding automated test coverage wherever practical.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional QA experience within games, VR/AR, or large-scale consumer applications, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience testing on Android-based devices, including the ability to sideload builds and capture logs using adb and logcat.
- Proven track record of running regression and release test passes effectively against demanding, fixed release schedules.
- Exceptional bug reporting skills, characterized by concise, reproducible reports that include clear steps, expected vs. actual results, severity, and supporting evidence.
- Demonstrated experience in writing and maintaining comprehensive test plans and test cases.
- Proficiency in reproducing crashes, stability issues, and performance regressions based on telemetry or user-reported data.
- Comfort working independently, adept at prioritizing tasks under release pressure, and skilled in clearly communicating risks to engineering teams and release managers.
- Experience testing VR applications, ideally on leading VR platforms.
- Familiarity with Unity, including the ability to read Unity logs and understand common engine-level failure modes.
- Experience testing multiplayer, social, or user-generated-content (UGC) platforms.
- Experience testing cloud game or application streaming services.
- Proficiency with performance and memory profiling tools such as OVR Metrics Tool, Perfetto, or Unity Profiler.
- Scripting or test automation experience (e.g., Python, Unity Test Framework).
- Experience working within live-service (Live Ops) release processes.
