Quality Director

We are looking for a forward-thinking Quality Director to provide national leadership across our business. This is a high-profile opportunity to influence how we design, construct and hand over our projects.

Reporting to the Chief Sustainability Officer, you will lead our National Product Team providing expert advice to our project teams, managing our quality systems and developing innovative approaches to continuous improvement.

This is not simply a compliance role. You will be a trusted strategic adviser, helping our people make confident decisions, and manage risk intelligently to enable delivery of high-performing solutions for our customers.

Success will come through building strong relationships across the business, using a collaborative and coaching-led approach to influence outcomes in a way that empowers teams to take ownership.

What you will do

• Provide strategic direction and translate it into national and local priorities, communicated with intent, clarity and impact.
• Lead Willmott Dixon’s customer-focused approach to quality, using risk-based and proportionate assurance to enable successful project delivery.
• Act as the strategic advisor on quality issues to the Executive Committee and Divisional Boards, providing clear insight, challenge and practical recommendations.
• Create a high-performing team that is a trusted source of expertise aligned with the wider business, empowered and collectively accountable.
• Enable fast, well-judged decisions that deliver consistently high-quality, technically robust and buildable solutions.
• Strengthen organisational capability and capacity faster than our workload grows through training, knowledge sharing, lessons learned and targeted project support.
• Own our quality policies, management systems and accreditations ensuring they are clear, proportionate, efficient and help project teams succeed rather than creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
• Collaborate with customers, supply chain partners, third parties and regulators to anticipate industry developments and respond effectively to change.
• Bring energy, tenacity and a growth mindset, championing innovation, new ideas and improved ways of working that simplify design and construction while enhancing quality outcomes.

Essential Criteria

• Senior leadership experience in quality, technical compliance, assurance, product management or a related discipline, with strong commercial awareness and the confidence to advise and challenge at Executive and Board level.
• Comprehensive knowledge of built-environment design and construction, including Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, competency frameworks and related statutory requirements.
• Experience leading, developing and motivating high-performing multidisciplinary teams, while balancing strategic leadership with practical support for business and project delivery.
• A proven ability to develop and implement strategy through clear priorities, programmes and measurable outcomes.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with experience engaging boards, customers, project teams and industry stakeholders, and using data and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.

Desirable Criteria

• A degree, master’s qualification or equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline.
• Membership of a relevant professional institution, such as CIOB, CABE, ICE, RICS or an equivalent body.
• Experience managing or improving accredited management systems, such as ISO 9001 and ISO 19650.
• Experience contributing to industry working groups, professional forums or sector-wide initiatives.
• An understanding of digital construction, Artificial Intelligence and BIM standards.
• Experience using performance data, insight and lessons learned to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.

Willmott Dixon operates across England and Wales. Your location is therefore less important than your ability and willingness to travel regularly to our offices, projects and other key locations.
