The Opportunity

We are looking for a Quantitative Analyst to join our Portfolio Management & Asset Allocation team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone in the early stages of their investment career who combines strong quantitative skills with a genuine interest in global financial markets and multi-asset investing.

Working closely with the Head of Portfolio Management & Asset Allocation and the team’s Quantitative Analyst, you will support quantitative modelling and analysis across investment strategy, asset allocation, portfolio construction and risk monitoring.

You will help develop the models we use to form our strategic, dynamic and tactical asset allocation views across the multi-asset universe. You will also maintain performance attribution for our multi-asset model portfolios, helping the team understand and communicate the investment decisions driving portfolio outcomes.

This is a broad, generalist investment role offering exposure to a wide range of asset classes and the opportunity to develop both your quantitative capabilities and your understanding of portfolio management.

What you'll be doing

Investment and asset allocation

  • Analyse global equities, fixed income, credit, commodities, currencies and alternative asset classes.
  • Contribute to strategic, dynamic and tactical asset allocation research.
  • Assess valuations, macroeconomic conditions and different market regimes.
  • Help translate quantitative signals and research into practical investment recommendations.

Portfolio analytics

  • Undertake portfolio construction, scenario, factor and risk analysis.
  • Maintain performance attribution for multi-asset model portfolios.
  • Analyse and explain the investment drivers behind portfolio performance.

Quantitative research

  • Support the development, testing and refinement of proprietary investment models.
  • Research valuation, technical, macroeconomic, risk and other relevant investment signals.
  • Use quantitative analysis to identify insights that can support investment decision-making.

Investment communication

  • Help produce clear and engaging investment commentary, charts and analysis.
  • Present quantitative findings in a way that is accessible to investment committees and internal and client-facing audiences.

Tools, data and implementation

  • Maintain quantitative models and dashboards, using Python and Excel to implement research efficiently and robustly.
  • Maintain high standards of data quality.
  • Help automate and improve the team's quantitative research processes and infrastructure.

What we're looking for

You will ideally have

  • 1 to 3 years' experience in quantitative analysis, ideally within a multi-asset investment environment such as wealth management or asset management.
  • A degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience of quantitative modelling, preferably within financial markets or investments.
  • Strong Python, or comparable programming, skills.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • A good understanding of global financial markets, asset classes and the factors that drive multi-asset returns.
  • An understanding of portfolio construction, asset allocation, investment risk, performance attribution and economic theory.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to interpret quantitative outputs within an investment context rather than relying on models mechanically.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain analysis clearly to different audiences.
  • A good understanding of the UK wealth management market.

It would also be an advantage if you have

  • The CFA qualification, or are working towards the CFA designation.
  • Experience using financial databases such as Bloomberg or FactSet, or a strong ability to learn new platforms quickly.
  • Experience building or working with browser-based dashboards.
  • Relevant financial services internships or work experience.

What you'll bring

We are looking for someone who is curious about markets, comfortable with data and motivated to understand the "why" behind investment outcomes.

You'll enjoy solving problems, challenging assumptions and using quantitative techniques to generate investment insight. Just as importantly, you'll be able to communicate your conclusions clearly and work collaboratively within a broader investment team.

For the right individual, this role offers the opportunity to build broad experience across quantitative research, asset allocation, portfolio construction and investment strategy within a multi-asset environment.
