Contract: Temporary (12 months maternity cover)
Role Overview
Cumbria Trading Standards promotes a fair, safe, and healthy trading environment by protecting consumers, supporting businesses, and safeguarding animal health and welfare.
Purpose
To provide legal and technical advice on Trading Standards, act as lead officer, and ensure compliance through inspections, investigations, and enforcement where needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate criminal and unfair trading practices.
- Carry out inspections, sampling, and testing across businesses and farms to ensure compliance with consumer, animal health, and food chain legislation.
- Provide advice and support to businesses and farms to promote compliance, economic growth, and animal welfare.
- Deliver enforcement activities, education initiatives, and marketplace campaigns.
- Maintain professional competence through ongoing development.
