About BibliU

BibliU is an award-winning, technology-led B2B company transforming the $65bn educational content industry. With a 90% CAGR the past 5 years, we are just getting started. We've cracked the code on Day 1 access to affordable digital course materials for students, while delivering comprehensive campus store solutions that foster human relationships, and increase our stickiness in the world of AI.

The result? Measurable impact: 10% higher student retention, 1-point GPA increases, and partnerships with 170 universities serving 600,000 students each year.

We've fundamentally changed how universities procure, distribute, and manage learning content. We partner with 4,000+ publishers, including Pearson, Oxford University Press, and Wiley to deliver content to universities, and provide rich engagement data and interactive tools like quizzes that help students actually learn.

Here's what makes our story compelling:

Founded in late 2015 as an Oxford University spin out, we've grown explosively with 90% CAGR over the last five years, including 65% in FY25, reaching $100m in annual revenue. Our Series B raised $23m led by Nesta Impact Investments (with Guinness Asset Management, Stonehage Fleming, and Oxford Sciences Enterprises). In late 2023, we acquired Texas Book Company (now 'BibliU Campus') to become the only fully vertically integrated player in the market, driving US organic growth which now represents 90% of our business.

We're hungry for more. We're actively building our M&A pipeline as we compete head-to-head against legacy bricks-and-mortar providers to improve the faculty and student experience while boosting the financial sustainability of universities.

Our culture is collaborative, high-growth, and agile. You’ll join an experienced and motivated executive team with backgrounds from Instructure (Canvas) and other successful edtech companies with exit experience. We operate as a distributed team across the UK and US, with offices in London.

Position Overview

BibliU is looking for two Senior Accountants to take end to end ownership of core accounting processes across our multi-entity group. This role sits close to the detail: closing the books accurately every month, partnering across Finance, Legal, Tax, and Treasury to get accounting treatment right, and spotting where controls or processes need to improve before they become a problem. You will report to the Corporate Controller and be a key driver of the accuracy and scalability of our accounting function as the group grows.

What you will be doing:

  • Perform and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation across group entities;
  • Support the preparation, review, and filing of external financial reports as applicable to the group's reporting obligations;
  • Take end to end ownership of accounting processes and projects, exercising judgment to keep the close moving and ensure the right decisions get made under time pressure;
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, Tax, Treasury, and other cross functional stakeholders to understand business initiatives and assess their accounting implications;
  • Assess the effectiveness of controls in your area and contribute to the design of new controls as the business grows and processes evolve;
  • Identify and implement process improvement and automation opportunities that improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across the accounting function;
  • Research and document technical accounting positions on significant or non routine transactions;
  • Assess risk and internal control considerations, escalating issues to leadership with clear context and recommendations;
  • Analyze complex processes and financial data to identify root causes and surface actionable insights.

What we are looking for

Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
  • 5 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of month end and quarter end close;
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting, with exposure to more than one jurisdiction (multi-entity experience a strong plus);
  • Advanced Excel skills: reconciliations, complex formulas, and data analysis;
  • Comfortable using AI tools to improve accuracy or efficiency in day to day accounting work;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience partnering across departments such as Legal, Tax, or Treasury;
  • Demonstrated ability to research and document technical accounting positions;
  • Sound judgment and ability to make timely decisions to keep close deadlines on track;
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and escalating risk.

Good to Have

  • CPA (or equivalent professional accounting qualification), a plus rather than a requirement;
  • Experience supporting external financial reporting or statutory filings;
  • Direct experience with Iplicit or similar multi-entity accounting systems;
  • Experience working in a fast growing business;
  • Exposure to process automation or systems implementation projects.
