Senior AI Lawyer (6+ years PQE)
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior practising lawyer who is passionate about the transformative potential of AI in legal services and wants to shape how we deliver value to our clients through smarter, technology-enabled workflows.
You will bring your legal expertise and practice group knowledge to a team focused on embedding AI tools into the heart of how we work and how we serve clients. You will be a credible voice internally and externally, capable of speaking the language of both the lawyer and the technologist.
You will be part of the LegalTech and AI Practice, which sits alongside the global LegalTech and Innovation team.

Bird & Bird's LegalTech Team operates across 33 international offices, and this role reflects that global reach. Our primary hubs for this position are London and Frankfurt, though we welcome candidates based in other Bird & Bird locations. Across whichever office you sit, you will work closely with colleagues internationally, engaging with practice groups, knowledge teams, and business services functions across the network.
The LegalTech Product Lead is a new and distinct role within this team, sitting alongside the Business Applications team and focused specifically on ensuring the firm's technology portfolio functions as a coherent whole: well-connected, well-adapted, and continuously improving.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as one of the team's embedded LegalTech and AI specialists, with a deep understanding of AI tools, legal workflows, and the practical realities of fee earner adoption.
- Advise internal teams and clients on how AI can be applied effectively and responsibly within their legal matters and business operations.
- Bring credibility to client-facing conversations about AI by grounding recommendations in genuine legal and practice group experience.
- Actively contribute to a culture that values and leverages the firm's responsible AI use by assisting with training, new joiner inductions, communications and attending face to face meetings to raise the profile of the LegalTech and AI Practice and wider LegalTech and Innovation team.
- Keep up to date with industry developments and new technologies.
- Support the full delivery lifecycle of client LegalTech projects, from initial requirements gathering and analysis through to configuration, testing, onboarding, and post-launch user enablement.
- Serve as the primary client engagement lawyer for new client products, managing client relationships, onboarding experiences, and ongoing engagement to maximise adoption and value.
- Work closely with clients to understand their workflows and tailor AI solutions to their specific needs and risk appetite.
- Design and deliver engaging AI training sessions and workshops for senior fee earners, including at firm retreats and practice group away-days.
- Develop and facilitate client-facing AI workshops, helping organisations explore use cases, refine processes, and build confidence in working with AI tools.
- Design workshop slides nuanced to specific clients / sectors and prepare tangible takeaways (prompting guides, workflow mapping etc).
- Act as a change agent within practice groups, helping teams identify new use cases and continuously improve how they deliver legal work.
- Contribute to the development of internal training materials, playbooks, pitch materials and best practice guidance.
- Help grow a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and continuous improvement within the team.
What You'll Bring
- Qualified lawyer with experience in private practice
- Demonstrable interest in and knowledge of AI and legal technology, including familiarity with AI-assisted legal tools and platforms such as Legora.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders including partners.
- Experience of, or a clear aptitude for, project delivery, including requirements gathering, process mapping, testing, and training.
- Comfortable facilitating workshops and training sessions for professional audiences.
- Prior experience in a LegalTech, innovation, or knowledge management role within a law firm or legal team would be advantageous.
- Experience with AI tools applied to legal workflows (e.g. contract review, due diligence, document drafting, or research).
- Familiarity with client-facing technology platforms and portal products.
