The Recipe for Success: Role Summary

We’re looking for a Senior Automation QA to combine hands-on automation engineering with end-to-end quality leadership across our Global IT landscape. You will build scalable solutions, strengthen standards and help teams release with confidence.

Using Playwright, JavaScript or TypeScript, APIs and SQL, you will test complex business journeys across connected systems. You will also mentor our QA community, influence delivery decisions and improve how automation is designed, shared and maintained.

Reporting to the QA Manager, this role is based in Andover and works across global programmes, technical teams and business stakeholders. Some international travel may be required.

Ingredients: Key Responsibilies

Automation Engineering

  • Design and maintain scalable automated tests using Playwright with JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Test APIs, integrations, databases and end-to-end business journeys across connected systems.
  • Use SQL and technical investigation to diagnose defects across UI, API, integration and data layers.
  • Build reusable frameworks, components and assets that improve coverage and reduce manual effort.

QA Delivery and Governance

  • Lead QA delivery from early planning through release readiness and post-release assurance.
  • Create risk-based test plans, estimates, quality gates and clear release recommendations.
  • Manage quality risks, dependencies and defects across projects, programmes and BAU delivery.
  • Use metrics and defect trends to improve test effectiveness and inform decisions.

Technical Leadership and Partnership

  • Act as a trusted QA adviser to Product Owners, Programme Managers, Architects and delivery teams.
  • Review automation designs, technical solutions and code to protect quality and maintainability.
  • Coach QA colleagues in automation, API testing, SQL validation and modern quality practices.
  • Provide technical oversight to specialist partners and ensure effective knowledge transfer.

Continuous Improvement

  • Evaluate tools and technologies based on business value, scalability and maintainability.
  • Drive sustainable automation through CI/CD, scheduled or unattended execution where appropriate.
  • Help evolve our Global IT QA model across programmes and regions.

The Perfect Blend: What We’re Looking For

  • Strong hands-on automation experience using Playwright with JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Experience designing reusable frameworks and maintainable automated test solutions.
  • Practical API, integration, end-to-end and database testing skills, including SQL validation.
  • Experience leading QA across complex projects, releases or product portfolios.
  • A strong understanding of risk-based testing, QA governance and release readiness.
  • Confident communication, influencing and mentoring skills across technical and business teams.
