Ready to bring deep CFD expertise to the next generation of automotive engineering?

12-month contract | Up to £800 per day | Outside IR35

An automotive client is seeking a Senior CFD Engineer to join its AI & Engineering team, combining high-fidelity simulation with emerging AI-driven methods to solve complex engineering challenges.

You’ll work alongside AI Engineers, Data Scientists and engineering specialists, bringing the physics expertise needed to build robust models, validate results and turn simulation insights into practical product development decisions.

If you enjoy owning technically demanding projects and exploring new ways to improve simulation workflows, this contract offers the opportunity to put both strengths to work.

The opportunity

You’ll take ownership of modelling strategy, execution and validation, with responsibility for:

  • Developing and validating high-fidelity CFD simulations to support automotive engineering and product development.
  • Applying fluid dynamics, numerical methods and computational modelling expertise to complex engineering problems.
  • Collaborating with AI and Data Science teams to integrate simulation outputs into machine learning workflows.
  • Using Python or similar tools to automate simulations, process engineering data and improve computational efficiency.
  • Exploring surrogate modelling, reduced-order modelling and AI-assisted simulation techniques.
  • Working with engineering stakeholders to define requirements, interpret results and inform engineering decisions.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be an experienced CFD specialist, ideally operating at Senior or Principal level, with the confidence to tackle complex modelling challenges independently.

Your background will include

  • Extensive commercial experience in CFD and physics-based modelling.
  • Experience in automotive, motorsport, aerospace or another advanced engineering environment.
  • Proficiency with established CFD software and simulation workflows.
  • A strong understanding of fluid dynamics, numerical methods and model validation.
  • Python experience for simulation automation, data processing or engineering workflow development.
  • The ability to collaborate across disciplines and explain complex technical findings clearly.

Experience with machine learning integration, surrogate modelling or reduced-order modelling would be highly advantageous. Deep CFD expertise is the priority, making this an opportunity to apply your simulation knowledge within an AI-focused team.
