Senior Lighting Engineer

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Lighting Engineer to support the delivery of National Highways' major asset management and improvement programmes. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the design, assessment and management of highway lighting and electrical assets across the strategic road network.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide technical leadership on lighting and electrical infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with National Highways standards, industry regulations and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of highway lighting and electrical schemes.
• Provide technical assurance and guidance on lighting asset management and renewal programmes.
• Undertake design reviews, compliance checks and technical assessments.
• Manage consultants, contractors and supply chain partners to ensure successful project delivery.
• Support project governance, programme reporting and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Ensure schemes are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with budget and programme requirements.
• Contribute to innovation, sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives across the network.
  
  

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering highway lighting and electrical infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of National Highways standards, DMRB and relevant industry guidance.
• Experience managing design consultants and contractor performance.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of asset management principles and lifecycle planning.
• Professional membership with a relevant engineering institution or working towards chartership is desirable.
